Bio
Jayson Moore was born into a close knit, musically gifted family in the late 1960's. While most of what was heard in the house was piano, vocals and guitar; there was a cousin who played the drums. After a few years of watching Jayson bang on anything within reach, his cousin taped a pair of drum sticks to his hands and let him go. Jayson was hooked. He was a hard hitter even then. (The tape was to insure no damage was done to his mother's china cabinet!) By age eight, he was playing along with records by popular funk artists like The Commodores, Brick, The Average White Band and Earth, Wind and Fire. He got his first real kit two years later and progressed quickly to playing harder rock songs by KISS, Foreigner, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, and others. He played as much as he could, where ever he could.
Jayson's heavy handed style and powerful double bass patterns are self taught but he did receive formal instruction from his seventh grade band director, Carl Brown, an accomplished and amazingly talented Jazz and Corps drummer. He stayed with the school band playing in the Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, Marching Band and was Drum Captain his senior year. Of course, the first high school rock band ensued. Jayson was chosen by none other than Zak Stevens, popular drummer (and later front man for the band Savatage, and now CircleIICircle) to drum in one of Zak's first bands. Jayson embraced the eighties rock scene, forming popular metal bands such as Xavier and Fire Escape. The nineties brought about a more polished but still hard driving sound from bands like Skull Cinema, Souldoubt and Lowerdown. As a thirty year veteran, Jayson's style is unmistakable and his energy overwhelming. He's sought after by local bands for live performances and recording sessions. His peers have even taken lessons from him. Jayson continues to wow audiences across the east coast.
Influences: Buddy Rich, Alex Van Halen, Tommy Lee, Tommy Aldridge, Jeff Porcaro, B.B. Queen, Bernard Purdie..........This list could get insane!
