Jamaal Wheaton was born 19 December 1977 in Detroit, Michigan, USA and got his start in music playing saxophone in High School & College. With a background in Jazz, Wheaton moved to Atlanta, GA from Oklahoma City, OK in pursuit of his music career. Wheaton soon found himself performing Spoken Word poetry in Open Mics, Poetry Slams, and many other festivals under the stage name 'Status Quotes.' In 2006, Jay Stat teamed up with Robert McKinney aka Vizun and Matthew Bowe aka Demiz to form Play No Games Entertainment, a collaboration of New York, East Coast and Jay Stat's southern flavor. Play No Games recorded over 40 Songs together before member Demiz was killed in the line of duty serving in Iraq.
Jay Stat and Vizun continued the Play No Games legacy collaborating on music together as well as launching solo careers. Jay Stat currently lives and performs in Germany where he is quickly establishing a firm foundation in the Hip Hop community and promises to bring a good time to every show.
