Singer/Songwriter JayT was born on August 13, 1996 in Northwest, Washington D.C. and was raised in Wheaton, Maryland. JayT Russell was born in a family of singers which include a an older sister who sang background for Mary J Blige in Germany and a mother who was signed to Hilltop Records in the mid 2000’s. JayT first began singing in his mother’s junior choir at United Baptist Church in Silver Spring, Maryland where his father was the Associate Pastor until he was inspired to become a performer after hearing Usher’s Confessions album in 2004. He then began to write songs at the age of 10.  Then at tender Age of 11 years old, JayT auditioned for the famed Showtime at the Apollo in Harlem and won the Kids Star of Tomorrow competition further confirming to him that music was his calling. Once JayT reached 12 years old, he already had his first recording placement on his mother Royaslyn Russell’s Christmas CD which independently sold over 100,000 copies. By the age of 13 years old, JayT has performed at esteemed venues from The Fillmore in Silver Spring where artists like 2 Chainz, Tinashe, Tamar Braxton and ASAP Rocky have all graced the stage to JayT singing the National Anthem at the Esteemed Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. In 2015, JayT decided move from Rockville, Maryland to Manhattan, New York to pursue his music career and has since released released three singles on YouTube and SoundCloud all of which he wrote. The first being his first single “Come Together” in November 2015 which amassed 16,000 views in 4 months, his second single “Let Me Love You” in April 2016 which amassed 32,000 views in One Month and his current single Thinking Bout You” released June of this year which has reached over 100,000 views and counting in less than a month of its release on YouTube showing this 20 year old R&B singer’s soulful vocals and Hip Hop melody are a force to be reckon with.
