Bio
I've been songwriting and performing ever since I picked up a guitar at age 8, but I didn't take it seriously until I won a SOCAN New Songwriter Award in 1991. I come from a proudly dysfunctional (Canadian Navy) military background, and music was my escape while in the service.
My primary influences were/are: Mahalia Jackson, R&B(Motown), Taj Mahal, Carlos Montoya, Carlos Santana, Ry Cooder, Kurt Elling, Jonathan Coulton, and burlesque (especially the music/lyrics of Monty Python). My music really reaches and out and touches people who find themselves in a state of arrested development and/or denial.
