Jay Woodward is a cross between his pop punk influences of Brand New, and Blink 182 with the acoustic vision of Sufjan Stevens and Jack Johnson. Woodward's voice speaks with undeniable truth that tears straight to the heart with lyrics that evoke the deepest state of emotion.

Biography

Heard the expression "think outside of the box"? I have been living outside the box my entire life. From the youngest age I have never found ease in taking directions. I have always wanted to find the answer using my own resources. My innovative and entrepreneurial thinking has led me into the music industry. What started out as a way for the middle child to express himself; I have grabbed a hold of what I know best (music) and redefined my genre.

My influences include pop punk classics like Blink 182, Brand New, Lit, Jimmy Eat World, and Alkaline Trio; indie favorites Bright Eyes, Sufjan Stevens, and Menomena (from my college radio days at WWVU-FM Morgantown); and the very chill Matt Costa, and Jack Johnson.

Being the middle child I know what it feels like to be "lost in the sauce" and sometimes forgotten. In school I was constantly getting into trouble and college was only the beginning to my run-ins with the law. After a near death escape from a burning house and an arrest all in one year I realized that God was sending me a wake up call. My music reflects the decision I made to stop running away and turn towards God. My lyrics are true accounts of incite and experiences that not only I, but everyone can relate to. I can especially relate to this generations youth because I know their struggles.

What set's me apart from the rest? Music production and positive music. When I moved to college at WVU I picked up a computer, a Lexicon Omega interface, and some cheap microphones. Over the years I have been refining my music production skills in the pursuit of recording a meaningful demo. I failed many times but in failure I have found success in producing, mixing, mastering, and composing. My music is solely produced and composed by myself, (please keep this in mind when listening to my music.) How many other bands can say they have done it all and on under $500 worth of equipment? The future is music production and I believe I have a great head start.

Positive Music- "What you think is who you are." So often you turn on the radio and hear a degrading message motivating the mind to digress. My music is positive and evokes an emotion that does not corrupt the mind. In an age where the youth have never been more misled, I hope to take the reigns and lead them out of the trenches.

Lyrics

Psalm of David

Written By: Jay Woodward

All night I made my bed ready to swim, I water my couch with my tears, and I am weary. They dug a pit for me prepared a net for my steps. Into the midst where they dug they've fallen instead.

So hear the right O Lord attend unto my cry. Give ear unto my prayer for I am not upright. And when the wicked come to eat my flesh they will stumble and fall on your righteousness. On your
righteousness.

Silver and gold are tried in the furnace and refiners but the
hearts of men are tried by the Lord, we are sinners. Give him back whats His, by His love I exist. Give him back whats His, by his death I Live.

All night I ate the fruit of my own way I hungered for my own devices, and I am weary. If I'm a human being than show me where is the end, the gates of hell never full,
nor my eyes content.

Give him back whats His, by his death I......give it all to
Him I give Him all my possessions, my heart, my head, my brain, my limbs, my skills and obsessions. Give Him back whats His, by His love I exist. Give Him back whats His, by his death I LIVE.

Prayer

Written By: Jay Woodward

Praise to the King to the Lord God almighty, forgive me my sin and I ask for your mercy, look down on this wretch with a smile and I'll know that my uncertain future is certain in you.

Show me the way to go, mold me into your vessel

Please give me the wisdom of Isaac or Jacob or Moses who lead Israel
out of Egypt please give me the strength of the Nazarite Samson who slew a 1000 men with a jawbone in his hand.

Show me the way to go, mold me into your vessel

I ask for the might you bestowed upon David to defeat the giants that
stand in my way and I ask for the blessing of Solomon's wisdom to solve all my problems and make right decisions.

Show me the way to go, mold me into your vessel

I give you the glory due unto your name and I'll sing songs for you
of your mercy and strength so let the seas roar and the heavens be glad I trust you my father forever Amen.

Wake Up Call

Written By: Jay Woodward

The morning brings reality I wish I could stay in a coma everlasting a dream world's ok, with me woke up in a jail cell feel six feet below reminded of the demons Jesus payed my toll.

I was caught up in the world today I was caught in my own glory so take away my self worth take away everything but take away my demons I'm only human a grain of sand among the sea.

I call an SOS on the radio I've been dying for days I wave my white flag on the battlefield askin' God's son to save Me Agreed

The morning brings reality I'm not meant to see the knowledge of the heavens and agenda to complex for me I son of David unworthy son of man forgiven of my demons submit all I am.

I call an SOS on the radio I've been dying for days I wave my white flag on the battlefield askin' God's son to save

(repeat)

Wake Up Call
Wake Up Call
Wake Up Call
Wake Up Call

My House

Written By: Jay Woodward

My House is my safe house my place to call home, a shelter from the people, outside my door. My clothes are so comfy, so comfy and clean, a wardrobe malfunction, would ruin me.

Inside out and Upside down, these are the things that can be found, on the inner humble home, these are the things I love the most.

My fan is the best fan a man could ask for, he regulates me household
or keeps me warm. My guitar is so lovely so handsome and tact, I play her on the daily, and she loves me back.

Inside out and Upside down, these are the things that can be found, on the inner humble home, these are the things I love the most.

I go kicking and scream home.

I adhere to the rules outside my
home, but I'm free as a bird when I'm home alone.

My Last Love Song

Written By: Jay Woodward

Sometimes I wake up and wish you were here, sleeping next to me so silently so comfortably complete.
Sometimes I wonder why you chose me, people come and go you know that when the failures fall below, I'll still be here.

Put on your clothes for the long ride home, and find yourself a seat look out the glass window. Cuz we'll be, flying on planes thinkin' bout the time that we waste jumpin'through hoops even though we're miles away, lovin' you couldn't be so hard as it is, but the truth, I couldn't love you more than this.

Sometimes I wake up and wish you were here, walkin' with me on the day that we meet so sweet a day I see so clear. And sometimes I wonder why you chose me, 800 miles pile high such a distance is a crime, but I'll still be here.

I couldn't love you more.

I love you.
