Jaz the Artist

Growing up in Youngstown, Ohio Jaz the Artist found her first love for music at the McGuffey Rd Church of Christ singing acapella gospel in the church choir. From a very early age Jaz and her two childhood friends performed original music written by them and produced by another childhood friend in front of church members, friends and family. Sophomore year of highschool Jaz moved to Hampton, Virginia where she emerged herself into the art scene. Her creative abilities extends pass music; she also a very talented makeup artist. Jaz has traveled the country doing makeup for celebrities and major brands. Although music has been in her heart her whole life, it wasn't until summer of 2015 when Jaz decided to pursue music. She financed a beginner home studio and began writing and experimenting with beat making. Jaz truly appreciates and takes from all music. Her style is alternative yet soulful r&b with a little jazz and hip-hop sprinkled throughout. She gives credit to her musical influences from artists such as Lauryn Hill, Sade, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Brandy and Mary J. Bilge.

Jaz never studied music but did obtain a Bachelors in Speech Pathology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She decided to study SLP when she learned that some therapist use singing and music to rehabilitate their clients. 

The Music Jaz creates is to heal, inspire, motivate and encourage people to follow their dreams and contribute to society in a way that spreads love and positivity. Her word play keeps the listeners interested and to make them think. 
Along with working on new music Jaz is the female vocal lead in the Neo-Soul / Hip-Hop collective band The Seedz. 

Her next project will be an EP titled "Youtopia" is set to release late 2017.
