17 year-old urban pop artist Jaz is already turning heads with her video and single: “Bout That” featuring Remo the Hitmaker.

Recording in Los Angeles, Jaz is working with likes of producer Remo “The Hitmaker” Green, New Wave Music Artist/Writer Taybell, and Grammy nominated producer and pianist Kevin Randolph.

"Jaz Leading LA Urban Pop"

Working out of Los Angeles, seventeen-year-old singer, Jaz, has recently made herself known with the release of her first official music video, “Bout That”.

The Queen describes her music as fun and youthful, but also indicative of deeper meaning. While Jaz is currently focused on Urban Pop B music, she also credits artists Aaliyah and mega star Beyonce as influential role models to her artistry. Jaz finds it inspiring that both Aaliyah and Beyonce were and are in the spotlight while maintaining a sense of decency and wholesomeness. We especially see this in the beginning of her new song when the gentlemen to her left tell her she’s still too young to go to the club, but she can still “turn up”. Some people might say that Jaz is a goody-goody, but she doesn’t mind that. She’d rather be known for doing good things than doing bad things. It is Jaz’s hope that her music will provide a new means for her to give back to her community. Nevertheless her style isn’t one of charity. Rather she sets an example by being young and driving her own train.

We see Beyonce’s influence in other ways as well. In Jaz’s new song “Bout That” she positions herself as not only a boss, but in turn, as a feminist as well. The song is like a spin-off of “Run the World” and “Flawless” in its own way. In fact some of the dance scenes in “Bout That” are a cross between Bey’s “Love on Top” and “Party” in terms of the dancers formation.

Her cover of Rihanna’s “Stay” was also encouraging. Jaz’s rendition features a bit of church-choir soul as well as her own personal touch on the song. It’s nice to see such a young artist not be afraid to have her own take on a song that was originally recorded by such a renown artist. Shine on Jazy!
