The Jazz Consort (Hungary)

The Jazz Consort is a Hungarian jazz quartet which was founded in Budapest at 1984. Their music can be characterized as melodious modern mainstream jazz. The repertoire range from the modern swing music through the latin jazz to lyrical ballads.
The members belong to the front rank in Hungary and they participated in several festivals and took part in a number (more than thirty) of records.

The Jazz Consort has played at "Poznan Jazz Fair" (Poland) in 19894 sharing the stage with Bob Berg's band and the Oregon, also at the "Szeged International Jazz Festival" (Hungary) sharing the state with Betty Carter, at “Brasov Jazz Festival” and at "Nagykanizsa Jazz Festival". In the years past the combo made concert tours in Finland, Rumania and Italy. During the last three decades a number of leading Hungarian jazz musicians were member of the orchestra.
The tunefulness in their music is largely due to

Miklós Faragó the founder guitarist-leader of the band. He was born in 1953, he was studying at the Jazz Department of Béla Bartók Music Conservatory. Some of his most important influences are Wes Montgomery, Keith Jarrett and Toots Thielemans.. He is also a mathematician.
Miklós Faragó, Viktor Hárs and György Jeszenszky have play together on and off for thirty years.

Viktor Hárs double bass
He was born in 1966. He started his musical studies at age of 15. From 1985 till 1988 he was studying on the Jazz Department of Béla Bartók Music Conservatory. He performed on cruise ships, hotels, restaurants and night clubs with his own bands in more than 50 countries around the world. As a session musician he played or recorded with such renowned artists as Ernie Wilkins, Tony Scott, Ed Thigpen, Herbie Mann, Didier Lockwood, Dean Brown, Al Jarreau, David Liebman, Peter Erskine, Al DiMeola, Trilok Gurtu, Johnny Griffin, Bob Mintzer, Jasper Van’t Hof, Wallace Roney, Joe Lovano and George Benson. He took part in about 900 records on 120 vinyl records and CD-s..

György Jeszenszky drums
He was born in 1963. He graduated from Liszt Ferenc Music Academy. He is one of the most excellent and acknowledged drummers of Hungary, and he has been playing an important role in Hungarian jazz life for a long time. He plays in so many formation in Hungary and Europe. He contributes to the sound of the band with his unique style and creativity. Besides playing the drums, he also teaches in the Liszt Ferenc Jazz University. During his career he has played with such excellent and recognized artists as Tony Lakatos (ts), Tommy Vígh (vib), Bosko Petrovics (vib), Eldad Tarmu (vib), Peter Curtis (g) and Carol Cass (voc), Zbiginew Namyslowsky. He has performed in several foreign countries, e.g. Denmark, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Romania, Russia, Poland, Slovenia and Serbia.

Zoltán Csanyi synthesizers
He was born in 1960. He started his musical studies at age 6 with classical piano and continued his professional studies at the Jazz Department of Béla Bartók Music Conservatory.. In the 80’s he was a member of several well-known Hungarian jazz- and pop-rock bands. In1987 he moved the USA, where he played in concerts and festivals e.g. with Billy Cobham, Tony Campbell, Bonny Bonaparte, Russal Malone, Laymon Jackson, James Martin, Reginald Weal, Don Menza, Rick Margitza, Joe Romano, Carl Fontana. In Las Vegas he won for „Best Piano Player of the Year” three times. He played at venues of: Las Vegas: Ceaser's Pallace, MGM, New York-New York, Bellagio; San Francisco: Park Hyatt, Mark Hopkins, Ritz Carlton, S. F. Marriott; Atlanta: Ritz Carlton Buckhead. Festivals: Las Vegas, Monterey, Atlanta, Newport. In 2008 he returned to Hungary and since then he has been playing in top level jazz bands.
