We play music which is well known to jazz fans and also accessible to casual listeners, incorporating arrangements which keep the music uniquely our own, avoiding the typical *4 or 5 guys going through a fake book* approach one often finds. Our performances include music written by Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Bela Fleck, Hancock, Ellington, Monk and Brubek among others, and also include original compositions.
The Jazz Explorers can, if desired, offer a unique feature which audiences consistently enjoy: the *Jazz Jukebox*. This setup allows audience members to select certain of the songs played in each set. The Jazz Jukebox is accessible to both knowledgeable jazz fans seeking a specific tune from the repertoire or the casual listener. Patrons don’t not need to know jazz in detail or even the name of a song in order to enjoy the Jukebox….. People really like this feature and the *Jazz Jukebox* makes a Jazz Explorers performance fun for the audience.
The Jazz Explorers like it fast, except when we like it slow.......
Either way it's always fun....Live jazz should be lively
