JAZZ

Hypertextual pop subversions. Frenetic, scrappy pop-upstarts. Burnt meanderings on the fringes of genre. JAZZ is the sound of youth, the sound of our modern creative zenith. We are Ayler, Brotzmann, and Sanders. We are free. Exploding outside the astral-norms of rock music, JAZZ delivers short-wave bursts of catchy post-punk. We love the Homosexuals. We love the Desperate Bicycles. We love the Scortum Poles. And, unfortunately, we’re not really sure if we sound like any of them. We try hard, and it shows. People seem to like us and that’s really nice!

JAZZ consists of guitarist and vocalist Aaron Levin, editor, curator, and founder of Canada’s fringe-music vortex Weird Canada. Michael Deane plays the drums and, well, he’s just a handsome guy we found lurking in Edmonton. Graham Nichol plays the bass and he’s probably the most skilled in the group, having played with Gift Eaters and GOBBLE GOBBLE live. The three of us make a trio and this marks the end. Good bye!
