Discography

You have caught us right in the middle of recording our first Album. The love song that we have submitted (Close as It Gets) was hastily mixed from the dump tracks and with some very fancy foot work we managed to get a reasonable sound for you just three days before the submissions closed. We wiil have a completed album within four weeks and I can promise that it will not disappoint.

Bio

An Australian acoustic jazz outfit from the New South Wales far south coast. The Music .. somewhere between Madeleine Peyroux and Nat King Cole, a dash of home grown, all done with a wry smile and a certain style that leaves them somewhat ‘C’est la vie’. ‘Jazz Train to Budapest’ performs a stable of original music played in a tight intimate style with flowing vocals and guitar, flamboyant drumming/percussion and a smooth elegant bass all held together with some inspiring piano work. Original music that speaks of the modern world whilst maintaining its integrity in recognizable jazz arrangement and feel. There is a definte chemistry with this band .. everyone on stage occupies the same amount of space and presence. What you see is an ego free zone and what you hear are words with meaning and messages conveyed on a melody that weaves its way over diminished chords, minors, old school progressions and modern resolves. All tied together with tempos lifted off the street, cymbalwork like rain hissing on tarmac, brushes like a soft shoe shuffle, bass drum and high hat chasing a bass line that is both elusive and exhilarating. We are not teenagers but we bring a performance filled with verve and passion, delivery and presence and we see our selves as something real in this current world.
Playing polished new material over an old school feel, at times amusing, at times serious, always able to laugh at themselves but ever the consummate professionals “Jazz Train to Budapest” is certainly worth the ride.

Chris Ralf .. Double Bass. No matter where you place him he sounds good. Everything from concert to country, a jazzman at heart. Likes to read it but if it aint on the page is quite happy to make it up!!

‘Trapper’ Jonathan Trevena… Drums. (‘trapper’ oxford dict: player of percussive instruments and drums). Has worked with Australia’s finest musicians, Cirque du Soleil, toured 3 continents, has a wicked sense of humour but is always the professional performer. Not the quiet one!!

Andrew Szery… Vocals/Guitar/songwriter. Has fronted for big bands and theatre. Lived and worked in Europe speaks fluent English and German, performed/recorded from London to Linz, Hamburg to Rome, Bemboka to Sydney. No close ups please!!

Mark Bolsius ..Piano/keyboards. Early years spent in the Steinway factory in Hamburg. Piano tuner and restorer, nowdays he just plays the thing. A consumate performer.

Jazz Train to Budapest ...not to be missed !!
