J. Brooks

I was born in Jackson Michigan and moved to Wisconsin in 1991. This is also the year I began writing music as well. In 1999, I began a recording label, Monsta Jams Incorporated and was a regular hip-hop junkie. My influences were Busta Ryhmes, Rakim, Gang Starr, KRS-ONE, The Temptations, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, etc. In 2009, I decided to change the way my life was going, give it to christ and help win people over and help them realize how life should be lived or even just have a positive influence in their lives. I was in the process of signing with a major recording label, Grand Hustle Records, before I began my gospel rap journey, but, I chose not to pursue it. My stage name was Fullspin and I had performed in MANY states and venues. Now, I go by J. Brooks! Something simple, to the point and is still my original birth name. I have just put out my first debut gospel rap album and I am doing well. I have opened up in clubs and venues. I know that according to people that clubs is not an image for christian people but I choose to fight them demon in the streets to bring people who might not know about christian music to clubs in hopes of eventually changing minds of people and their choice of music, as well as inspiring them through real life experiences and events.
