Bio
My friend Dustin Benzing and I started JC Four in a drafty apartment above Earl Franks and Sons Flooring Company in Covington, KY. At the time (January 2010), we were both working depressing night shift jobs and started playing some old tunes I'd written to stay sane on our nights off (refer to the song "Nights"). We eventually enlisted my brother Luke to play the drums (after several failed attempts at "cornering" local drummers in bars and forcing our demos on them) and were joined shortly thereafter by Dave, the acclaimed "regular" guitarist (refer to our radio interview for that one) also known for his band Strands of Red.
After a couple self-recorded demos, our friend George Marshall Jenkins IV (drummer for Oso Bear/Lovely Crash and pitch man extraordinaire) cut us a break and booked us to open the monumental Oso Bear CD Release show at the Mad Hatter in October of 2010. At this show we met Zachary Burns, who helped us get a few more gigs as his opening support in Covington and Newport at The Down Under and the Southgate House. The full-length album "DIY" by The Zachary Burns Band is now available for download on Bandcamp.com.
During this past year, our friend Bree Blisters has been kind enough to help us book a CD release show at the Drinkery in OTR as well as to feature us on her radio show "That Was Then This is Now, Cincy" on WVQC Radio Free Queen City 95.7 FM. Be sure to tune in (or stream via wvqc.com) Thurdays at noon eastern. In addition to our demos, we recorded a full length album with Steve Wethington (Mac West, State Song) at New Fidelity Collective in Cincinnati, OH. This material appears as two separate EPs on our Bandcamp page.
Presently, the JC Four is on a momentary hiatus to write new tunes, work on other bands, and handle career/family obligations (or some combination of the aforementioned). We plan to get back into the swing of live gigging this summer (with a possible relocation to the southeast) and will begin work on songs for a split 7" shortly thereafter.
Our catalog is available for free download on Bandcamp.com.
