Bio

Marlon Williams, a 21 year old senior at Texas Tech University is coming to the end of his 4 year career as an outstanding football player at the university. Along with being talented athlete he is completing his degree in Industrial Engineering and is taking his career as J-Dash to the next level.
He began his music career at Texas Tech when he started rapping with a teammate for the entertainment of their teammates. J-Dash quickly gained popularity for his energetic swag, and delivery of his word play. The release of their first compilation allowed him and his teammate to raise the bar for all artists locally. In the beginning J-Dash produced and created beats for the group helping to develop both of their unique styles. As time went on J-Dash realized he was headed in a different direction than his partner and continued to develop his swag and creativity to a new level as a solo artist.
As J-Dash focused his attention on his own music development, he took his new sounds to the streets and gained increasing respect for his unique sound and style that was taking local music in a direction it had not been in before. The J-Dash quickly became the most requested nightlife performer in Lubbock. With his name growing a quick buzz the fans were ready for the release of a highly anticipated full compilation. During the process of creating his first mixtape, J-Dash released his first single to the public, “It’s Whatever”. The song instantly gained notoriety in clubs and eventually received airplay on the local hip hop station 104.9 The Beat due to requests called in by fans.
On October 3rd, 2009 J-Dash released a mixtape compilation as (K.O.S.) entitled, “Street Hustla”, of his innovative works that, not only had original lyrics and beats, but was recorded entirely in his apartment. J-Dash used his skills to independently produce and master the complete mixtape. The well anticipated compilation received over 500 downloads within the first month of its release. After the release of “Street Hustla” J-Dash quickly gained over 1,000,000 plays on MySpace and quickly grew to over 6,000 fans.
