"Waverly Pianist Releases 5th CD"

Concert pianist Jean Hilbert is releasing her fifth CD in a storied collection titled, Flying Solo. This latest CD features all originals written and arranged by the award winning pianist.

"Writing the music for Flying Solo allowed me to focus on some of the compilations I have been working on the last three years," Hilbert said. "It has been refreshing to work on these songs. My last CD (Awesome Night, 2006) was Christmas??“ themed and Flying Solo gave me the opportunity to work on only piano arrangements, which I truly love."

"The inspiration to do a tropical??“themed CD came to me in the depth of winter after receiving about 12 inches of new snow."

Hilbert's fascination with music began at the age of 6 when she began picking out melodies on her two octave xylophone. Private piano lessons followed at the age 7.

Hilbert continued lessons throughout high school, where she entered and won numerous solo piano competitions.

"My love for music really grew through playing the piano. It gave me a venue to express myself and my feelings," she said.

Hilbert has also been a church pianist for 35 years and is the featured pianist at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waverly, where she also is the director of music.

Her passion for music continues to grow as she not only performs her own compositions, but writes orchestrations of her music, adding other instrumentation to her lyrical piano compositions.

Hilbert's instrumental music has been aired on various radio stations across the country, as well as internationally on Internet radio stations. She has performed at hundreds of events in her lifetime, many benefit concerts, such as Agape Christian School, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the Sartori Hospital Festival of Trees. She was also selected to perform at the V.I.P. reception preceding Bill Cosby's performance in Cedar Falls.

Flying Solo, the all piano arrangement, is available at select locations including Meyer Pharmacy, Waverly; Barn Happy, Cedar Falls; Friend to Friend Christian Book Store, Waterloo and online at www.CDbaby.com

Hilbert believes Flying Solo is her best work yet.

"I have poured my heart into this CD and think you will hear the passion and emotion in it too."
