Jean Mallia's music has the get up and dance vibe of pop music and the bobbing your head and tapping your feet vibe of rock music. Her lyrics will have you relating to your own personal experiences and feeling connected.

Biography

A teenage pop singer/songwriter with a sophisticated twist is a good way to describe up-and-coming artist Jean Mallia. Playing piano at the age of four, singing since she could speak, and writing her first full length song at five years old, left no doubt in anyone’s mind that music was her drive. Picking up guitar and bass guitar at fourteen gave her the opportunity to create just the sound she was looking for. Growing up on boy bands like Hanson and N’Sync, Jean delivers a sound that’s pleasing to the ear but works the mind. “I want to break the whole cliché of pop music being pure bubble gum music. I like to use lines, words, phrases, that aren’t normally heard in songs, while still capturing the pop get up and dance vibe.” says Jean when asked to describe her style of writing. This young New Jersey native brings music that gets your feet tapping and your head bobbing, with lyrics that lay out a whole story for you to enjoy

"She is a song writing machine!"-Robert Sands:Composer and Producer. www.robertsandsmusic.com

So this is how it starts...... My name is Jean Mallia but most people call me Jeannie. I have been playing the piano since I was 5 years old. When I was in kindergarden I started a band with my best friend at the time, Katie. We wrote some songs together (I look back at them now and laugh). Once I started homeschooling we kindof grew apart. But I knew I wanted to be a musician. My parents are very musicaly talented. My father grew up with the members of Bon Jovi and even taught the drummer how to play the drums. My dad was supposed to be the drummer for the band but gave it up to start a family with my mom. He wanted to be a professional drummer, but he gave up his dream for me. My mom was very active in the theater. She was a great actress and singer. She wanted to be a professional singer, but gave it up for me. My father still would play little gigs with a cover band he had until my older sister was born. My dad looks at how well Bon Jovi is doing now and though he doesn't regret having his family,he is jealous of all the fame and fortune he could have had. My passion is music. I can look at something and think of lyrics to a song right away. My parents gave up their dreams for me. And I want to live not only my dreams of being a musican but also live my parents dream that they gave up for me. Now... I'm 17 years old and live in New Jersey. I play piano, guitar, bass guitar, a little bit of drums and I sing. I write my own music. I'm inspired by many people especially my friends. I write the majority of my music about the situations my friends go through, because nothing really ever happens to me (with boyfriends and that kindof drama = P).Vanessa Carlton and Dave Yaden are the two musicians I really look up to. Listening to their music makes me want to do better. They are my idols. The list of people who inspire me is pretty long, but just look underneath my "influences" section to see more. I don't want to be a huge musican, and I don't think I ever will be. But I'm going to follow my dreams and do what I love to do. And no one will ever stop me = )

Lyrics

See If I Care

Written By: Jean Mallia

Verse 1.

So I guess I’m invisible now that we are just friends
Yeah, what happened to being honest and being open
You say you see us together again in the future
But see if I care if we’re together, ever

The first promise that you broke, we didn’t talk
Can’t you remember that long phone call
You said that nothing was going to change, just our title
But now there’s an empty space in my heart I’m looking to fill

Chorus.

Uh oh see if I care
I really do care
I just put on a mask
And I hide behind a song
Seeing you with her
It rubs me to the bone
Knowing that I was the one
Who was held in those arms

Verse 2.

And I still can’t help but to look your way
You don’t smile back yet say everything’s OK
Please don’t act like you don’t remember the memories we share
I know you miss me but I doubt it’s as much as you Yeah!

Chorus.

Uh oh see if I care
I really do care
I just put on a mask
And I hide behind a song
Seeing you with her
It rubs me to the bone
Knowing that I was the one
Who was held in those arms

Bridge.

I try to convince that this was meant to be
I try to force to face reality
I try to act like it doesn’t bother me
But it is all a lie, lie, lie, lie, oh
Yeah Yeah Yeah!
Yeah Yeah Yeah!
Yeah Yeah Yeah!

Chorus.

Uh oh see if I care
I really do care
I just put on a mask
And I hide behind a song
Seeing you with that girl
It rubs me to the bone
Knowing that I was the one
Who was held in those arms

Chorus.

Uh oh see if I care
I really do care
I just put on a mask
And I hide behind a song
Seeing you with her
It rubs me to the bone
Knowing that I was the one
Who was held in those arms

Anything You Say

Written By: Jean Mallia

Verse 1.

Do you swear to tell the whole truth
And nothing but the truth
So help you God
Boy I hope that you do
Cause the truth is I get lost in your eyes
You’ve got my heart under arrest
And my tongue tied and twisted
You are driving me crazy
My love’s in handcuffs
And it’s been through the rough
And now, you hold the key

Chorus.

Anything you say will be used against you
In my court of law
And don’t try to prove your innocence
Because we both know that you’re wrong
The jury consists of me, myself, and I
And we’ve all found you guilty of this crime
You have stolen my heart

Verse 2.

Put your hands where I can see them
And tell me about anything
That you are hiding
Because when I kiss ya I want it to be real
And not fall in love with lie
Cause I seem to be prone to pick the guys who think that
This is all just a game
But look me in the eyes
Tell me the truth
Say, you’re not the same

Chorus.

Anything you say will be used against you
In my court of law
And don’t try to prove your innocence
Because we both know that you’re wrong
The jury consists of me, myself, and I
And we’ve all found you guilty of this crime
You have stolen my heart

Bridge.

Anything you say will be used
Anything you say will be used against you

Chorus.

Anything you say will be used against you
In my court of law
And don’t try to prove your innocence
Because we both know that you’re wrong
The jury consists of me, myself, and I
And we’ve all found you guilty of this crime
You have stolen my heart

Chorus.

Anything you say will be used against you
In my court of law
And don’t try to prove your innocence
Because we both know that you’re wrong
The jury consists of me, myself, and I
And we’ve all found you guilty of this crime
You have stolen my heart

The Only One You See

Written By: Jean Mallia

Verse 1.

So this is how it starts
We talk and talk until the early hours of the morning
And we just can’t get enough
And we can talk about anything
Anything and everything I don’t care
Cause I’m talkin’ to you

Pre-Chorus 1.

So please, tell me
That you sorta, kinda, feel the same
That you thing that there might be something great
Between, you and me

Chorus.
Now I wake up with a smile on my face
Because, for once my life is better than a dream
And I have never felt like this before
All I know is I want to be
The only one you see

Verse 2.

We are the perfect example
As to how fate works
And how the best things are worth waiting for
And we’ve both been jaded, we’ve been hurt, and we’ve been played
But we were always searching for that someone
Who was our everything and more

Pre-Chorus 1.

So please, tell me
That you sorta, kinda, feel the same
That you thing that there might be something great
Between, you and me

Chorus.

Now I wake up with a smile on my face
Because, for once my life is better than a dream
And I have never felt like this before
All I know is I want to be
The only one you see

Bridge.

We’ve both been bruised from fallin’ so many times
But whatever doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger
And we’ve learned wrong from right
I, I know that this is right

Pre-Chorus 2.

So please, tell me
That you feel the same
That you know that you and I were meant to
Meant to be

Chorus.

Now I wake up with a smile on my face
Because, for once my life is better than a dream
And I have never felt like this before
All I know is I want to be
All I know is I want to be your everything
All I know is I want to be
The only one you see
