Jean Mancini Gough & Friends

Jean Mancini Gough & Friends

 Paxton, Massachusetts, USA

Jean Mancini Gough Jazz Group is an ensemble offering a variety of sounds and temperaments, ranging from heartfelt ballads and spirited swing tunes to bossa nova and bebop.

We are a seasoned, professional ensemble who believe that music, especially jazz, is a very special way of communicating. With backgrounds and experiences in genres ranging from jazz, classical, folk, rock, blues and gospel, our music presents influences of all of this in a cohesive, smooth sound. Meeting through various jazz venues, we began to work more and more together, finding that our similar temperaments, musical tastes and work habits made for a great mix. We quickly built a songlist of tunes from the jazz and American Songbook repertoire and was received enthusiastically in our performances. Through the love for the music, we have developed the ability to connect with our audiences and make them feel comfortable, invited, and a part of our experience.

Vocalist Jean Mancini Gough has performed and toured as a jazz stylist and classical vocalist in New England, Philadelphia, New York City, and England. In the fall of 2008 she produced her debut jazz CD, With Friends, a collection of jazz standards and American Songbook selections. She has appeared as soloist on several CDs including the gospel CD, Feel the Spirit, with pianist Will Sherwood, Nightingale, with the a capella group Nothing But Treble, and Missa Gaia, with singer/songwriter Jim Scott. Jean holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Vocal Performance/Music Education, and has studied jazz with veteran singers Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton at the Vermont Jazz Center, and at Berklee College of Music. She is a sought after private teacher of voice and maintains an active private studio in the Worcester, MA area.
