Bio
Jean McGowan grew up in Central Maine the youngest of five children. She graduated from the University of Maine in Farmingtonwith a degree in English Literature. Was the lead singer in couple of garage bands before she fell in love with a Californian and moved to the West Coast. She now sings and lives in Portland, Oregon where she is a wife and mother of two small children. Being a mom forced Jean back into the music business as she needed an outlet away from the "mommy track" and to write a few songs, and get out of the house every now and then. Her musical influences are: early Bonnie Raitt, Aretha, Erykah Badu, M'shell Indegocello, Marvin Gaye, Dixie Chicks, the story telling of Lyle Lovett.... the list goes on and on. She just wants to tell stories and sing.
