Jeanna

Jeanna was born in Encinitas, California, a peaceful surf town sitting on the Northern coast of San Diego. With her bright blue eyes and long golden waves, Jeanna is the iconic picture of the classic Southern California girl. She is smart, genuine, passionate and fearless with a radiating energy and spiritual vibe. Jeanna’s powerful voice cuts deep into the soul, embodying the intimacy of live contemporary jazz artists. At the same time, her music makes you want to throw on a pair of bell-bottoms and feather your hair. Her versatile sound has been compared to the likes of Fiona Apple, Grace Slick, and Janis Joplin.

Empowered by strong female singer-songwriters like Jewel and Alanis Morisette, Jeanna discovered her voice at an early age and began writing songs at only 11 years old. Shortly after Jeanna’s 18th birthday, she noticed the shortage of female fronted rock bands in contemporary music and was inspired to pick up the guitar. In between college classes she locked herself in her dorm room, hammered on her axe and poured out her soul. Soon afterwards Jeanna fearlessly began playing all original music in local restaurants and coffee shops. She even snuck in through the backs of the beachside taverns so she could play at open mics before she turned 21.

In 2007, Jeanna decided to make the move to Los Angeles, where she could be exposed to a larger society of artists and musicians. While earning a degree in Mathematics from Loyola Marymount University, she performed at various Los Angeles venues, including LA’s famed Troubadour, a Jive Records Showcase at Hollywood's Cinespace, M Bar, Pig ‘N Whistle and The Derby Club. In 2010 Jeanna completed her first self-titled EP with producer Dean Dichoso (Fefe Dobson, BC Jean, Lucas DeRossi).

Jeanna currently resides in Santa Monica. In addition to being a solo artist, Jeanna is also the frontwoman of the Los Angeles alternative rock band Unsound Foundation (unsoundfoundation.com). Their distinctive sound melds distorted guitars over soulful melodies, commanding lyrics and an in-your-face punk attitude.

Jeanna is not just an artist; she is an adventurist and an advocate for the ambitious young minds of our generation. She has tutored and mentored special needs children, organized fundraisers for her community, and spread her peace of mind all over the world. She has been caught sleeping in her guitar case at train stations and staying up all night preaching to strangers in the dark. As a young adult she backpacked through Europe and plastered her Taylor guitar with stickers from each place she visited to remind her of each memory and peril she faced. She has the looks of a young Fergie and the free-spirited ideals reminiscent of a 70s flower child.

Jeanna is quickly making her mark performing with her band and playing acoustic shows all over the Los Angeles landscape. A young talent, she continues to nurture and cultivate her art. Jeanna is becoming a solid influence in the growing popularity of distinguished female musicians in rock n’ roll.
