Her song ‘Simple Pleasure’ was recently chosen for The Weather Channel’s 1st ever commercial CD release, titled ‘The Weather Channel Presents: Best of Smooth Jazz’ which reached #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz chart.
A multi-instrumentalist who plays Acoustic & Electric Guitar as well as Keyboards - Jeanne lends background vocals to two of Steve Coleman’s tracks on his groundbreaking CD The Sonic Language of Myth [RCA/Victor].

Lyrics

A Stranger

Written By: Jeanne Ricks

a Stranger

For 7 years my whole world was in your eyes,
now in 7 days it’s been shattered.
So little truth & so many little lies
‘bout things you knew really mattered
You’ve got a child now – a little one to raise.
Well it’s not my mess, but I’m the one who pays.
After all the love we shared
the things we did, the things we said;
after all this time you’re still a stranger.
After all the plans we made
the things we lost the things we gave
after all this time you’re still a stranger.
If you won’t go there you surely can’t stay here.
To have you here cuts like a sharp knife.
You had 9 months but, still waited 2 more years,
‘til I found out ‘bout your other life.
You’ve got a child now – Stand-up & play the part.
Without you I’ll be so lost I wont’ know where to start.
Chorus
Did you ever love me? Did you ever love?
How’d we get so far apart?
B Sect 1&2
Chorus

For the First Time

Written By: Jeanne Ricks

For the First Time

Two strangers –
who’ve known each other for years.
Two lonely hearts –
who finally looked past our fears
Found a brand new light in the same old face,
found just what I’ve been needing right here – right now.
I see you for the first time thru the eyes of love.
I know you for the first time thru the eyes of love!
I wonder –
how could we both be so blind?
Small wonder -
we use each moment we find.
What we share each day takes my breath away.
How long were we both waiting for what’s right here- right now!

Chorus

How could you hide right there in plain sight.
You’re everything my heart desires.
Love waiting here in front of my eyes,
well we’ll start our life together right here- right now!

Chorus

Shelter

Written By: Jeanne Ricks

Shelter

I found you inside a lonely silence,
shinning like a nova sun.
Sharing the dance of life & love & sorrow,
casting all our dreams as one.
I find shelter from the cold world outside.
I find shelter in your loving arms.
I find shelter in a worlds that’s so wide.
I find shelter everywhere you are.
Stealing romance in some special places.
Keeping passion flowing strong.
Listening to each others lives unfolding,
sharing as we travel on.
I find shelter from the cold world outside.
I find shelter in your loving arms.
I find shelter in a worlds that’s so wide.
I find shelter everywhere you are.
Sing me all of your songs and I’ll sing you all of mine,
somewhere in each verse there’s a rhyme.
Tell me all of your dreams and I’ll tell you all of mine,
magic happens when two hearts combine.
