JeanPaul Solomonoff to Play 2010 Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival

The soulful pop rocker JeanPaul Solomonoff will be the featured singer for the legendary Monty Alexander and his band during the 2010 Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival occurring January 24th through 29th in Montego Bay. All procees from JeanPaul's perfomance will be donated to the Clinton/Bush Haiti Fund,

The festival is traditionally a three-day musical event where 40, 000 fans gather each year to witness unforgettable music on two stages, but for the first time in its 14 year history, the 2010 festival will be extended to a week of live music concerts at various venues across Jamaica. Other featured performances include Gladys Knight, Jennifer Hudson, Babyface and Erykah Badu, Billy Ocean, Third World, Roy Ayers, Maxi Priest Hall & Oats and Joss Stone.

Solomonoff is a self taught singer, songwriter, and producer who comes from a diverse family background. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to a Haitian Caribbean mother and a Russian Polish Jewish father, JeanPaul fell in love with music at an early age. His musical tastes were strongly influenced by his parents' record collection of Motown, Stax, Doo Wop, and Beatles albums.

While producing his debut album, JeanPaul decided to recruit musicians from Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village. The musicians were self taught, passionate and possessed a love and understanding of music. After putting his band together and recording demos, they began performing at coffeehouses and music venues such as the Bitter End, Baggot Inn, Think Coffee, the Cutting Room, Kenny's Castaway, and others all over the village. The positive response from his audience encouraged Jean Paul to go further with his music. With the help of Adrian Harpham and Butch Dillon, his co-producers, he completed his debut album, "Introducing Jean Paul."

Before completing this project he was a member of the Latin R&B pop group VOZ, and was signed to a licensing deal with Rock Records Asia which led to a highly successful multi-country Asian tour. After touring, he signed an artist development production deal with Interscope Records, but when the record deal fell through he stayed on board to produce, write and arrange for a number of recording artists.

JeanPaul's single, "Eyes for You", will be available on iTunes Feb 14, 2010 followed by his debut album, "Introducing Jean Paul", featuring special guest Monty Alexander. In addition to the single and album, fans can experience the music video for his song, "Damaged", also from the debut album. "Damaged", which was written, produced, and directed by JeanPaul, has been selected for exhibition at the San Diego 2010 Black Film Festival as well as international film festivals in Egypt and Thailand.

Bio

jeanpaul is a self taught singer, songwriter, and international award winning music video director/ producer who was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to a Haitian Caribbean mother and a Russian Polish Jewish father. Jean Paul fell in love with music at an early age and his musical taste was influenced by his parents Motown, Stax, Doo Wop, and Beatles record collection.

His love for music led him to Washington Square Park, located in the heart of Greenwich Village, in New York City, where, for a few summers, he participated in nightly park jams. This park flowed with endless creativity and freedom. It's a place where legends began and artists are formed. People from all over the world would crowd and listen to him and others jam for hours. The music gave the audience joy and provided a temporary escapism. These jams were unrehearsed, spontaneous, and filled with so much life. The purity and love that was put into the music made these park jams special. They were organic and there was nothing fake about it, and the audience felt it.

While producing the album he decided to recruit musicians from Washington Square Park and Greenwich Village. The musicians were self taught, passionate and possessed a love and understanding of music. After putting his band together and recording demos, they began performing at coffeehouses and music venues, places such as the Bitter End, Baggot Inn, Think Coffee, the Cutting Room, Kenny’s Castaway, and all over the village. The positive response from his audience encouraged JP to go further with his music. With the help of Adrian Harpham and Butch Dillon, his co-producers, he completed his first album, Introducing Jean Paul.

Before completing this project he was a member of the Latin R&B pop group VOZ, and was signed to a licensing deal with Rock Records Asia, which led to a highly successful multi-country Asian tour. Jean Paul is a member of Broadcast Music Inc, BMI, and a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. Jean Paul recently performed the vocals on a composition, by three time Grammy nominee David Chesky, for the Alvin Ailey dance theater company. He has also composed commercial jingles for a number of advertisers, such as, Covergirl Cosmetics, Avis, Equitable Insurance, The WNBA, and others.

Jean Paul is a multifaceted performer with talents as diverse as the city he lives in. He created and captured the same energy found on a summer’s night jam at Washington Square Park and put it into his original compositions, so much so that you can feel the love as the album plays.
