Biography
This CD is long over due. I've owed it to myself and my family for many years. Some of the songs were written a long time ago, and some are a few months old. As a young man I traveled the country and the Northern Hemisphere, tasting life and diverse cultures. Many of my experiences were wonderful, and some were extremely difficult. For the past 8 years I’ve been living in Saint Michaels, MD. I've found myself surrounded by an amazing sailing town full of great musicians and music. Landing here now seems serendipitous. Here I’ve found an incredible studio and producer, a great local guitar maker who keep my instruments in top working condition, musicians in hiding, love, and friendship. All of these pieces and people just fell into my life, and I began to record Hope Town. Now it is done, and I hope you like it as much as I do.
Lyrics
Don't Hold Back
Written By: Jeff Calder
Don’t Hold Back
It took 28 years and too much talk
To bring me where I stand today
I’ve played many a game with some high class dame
And camped out on a west bound train
I’ve known the good and the bad
I’ve lost all that I’ve had
But Baby I can’t complain
Cause it’s brought me here with you
Warm and near and you
Wipe away my pain
So don’t hold back
Cause I’m letting go
Lord don’t make many women like you
Now I must let you know
My heart’s on track
Now don’t let me go
There ain’t lovin enough in this world
I’m letting it show
And if I had my way I’d stop the seasons
And spend the rest of time right here with you
So Baby don’t you ever stop believing
There’s a place on earth just right for me and you
Home Tonight
Written By: Jeff Calder
Home Tonight
I was looking at a full moon crawl
Across a cold November sky
I was thinking how this whole thing started
When I first looked in your eyes
Chorus
I’ve been trying hard to get this right
Holding on to dreams with all my might
Guess we’d better make the best
Of our time together
With you right here, I’ll call this home tonight
Now I know the many miles between us
Cannot change the way I feel
And I know what’s in my heart is trying
And what’s in my soul is real
Man Like Me
Written By: Jeff Calder
Man Like Me
Well he’s got money like a diamond mine
And that new Mercedes suites you fine
But you’re always feeling sad and blue
Cause you’re married to another you
And I knew it when he took your hand
And he bound you with a golden band
I can’t help it if your man don’t love you
Come and take it from a man like me
Well we could have had a love so true
But I couldn’t buy the moon for you
Still I find that I can’t walk away
Much less think of stupid shit to say
And I’m always gonna let you in
And then let you walk back out again
I can’t help it if your man don’t love you
Come and take it from a man like me
So take it easy, take it slow
I hate to see these moments go
A love that’s twisted round by fate
A decision that I love to hate
But you’ll have to find your own way home
I can’t bear to see the lies you own
I can’t help it if your man don’t love you
Come and take it from a man like me
Discography
Man Like Me, and Amelia, seem to be most peoples favorite song, but Home Tonight and Don't Hold Back are also getting great play. Hope Town is my personal favorite.
