"Love INC Sacramento Benefit Concert was a Awesome Experience"

Working with Jeff Carnie was a pleasure. He is a true professional in every sense of the word. Spectrum and the Community Chorus were fantastic. They brought a level of musical and vocal talent that was enjoyed by all! - Jeff Johnson

"Incredible"

I saw Jeff Carnie and Specturm at The Love INC Benefit Concert on Saturday, March 3, 2012. Their performance was awesome. The stage presence, connection with the audience, song selection and most of all love for the music ministry was clearly demonstrated. The one thing that made them stand out musically was the horn section. It was like Tower Of Power with an anointing. Looking forward to hearing them again. - Curtis P.

"Powerful Day"

On Sunday morning September 23rd of this year, our congregation had the privilege of hosting the ministry of Jeff Carnie and Spectrum. It proved to be a wonderful and spiritually fruitful day.

Though Jeff is a very gifted vocalist and confident leader, he displays a truly humble attitude while leading worship and is ever dependant upon the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He also has an infectious joy that helps inspire the people's worship of God.

Those in ministry with Jeff, are all talented, gracious, and servant hearted people. It is amazing to see how the Lord has knit their hearts together in ministry. Their unity as a group and various abilitites resulted in our people experiencing a rich and deep time of worship, praise and prayer before God.

We are hoping to have them return next year and I would encourage any Pastor or Church who has an opportunity to have them in service, to do so.

I would be more than happy to speak anyone about Jeff and his ministry. I can be reached at 805-466-2626.

For Christ and His Kingdom, - Pastor Rick Comstock

"Radio Promotion Review"

eff Carnie and Spectrum is a gospel/Christian music group
based out of California. He is a preacher at his establishment and
compiled this album to share his love of Christ to all this loyal
listeners. This is a touching compilation of Jeff’s true fervent
passion for Christ, and can be experienced through the powerful
vocals and joyous tunes in the music. The album features various
background vocalists and instrumentalists, and can be best com-
pared to other albums by various choir gospel groups, such as,
Living Water and Minister Darryl Cherry.

Track 1: You Are Good begins with an upbeat guitar, drums and
trumpet melody, which is mirrored by vocals Jeff’s vocals and
his background vocalists. As the song progresses, a piano is
briefly heard in the background after the chorus states, We wor-
ship you cause you are good. Also heard in the track are the saxo-
phone and the trombone, which display a more uplifting and
festive sound.

Track 5: Say So is an interesting track because it begins by fea-
turing fast-paced Congo drums combined with accelerated vocals
by Jeff. It conveys a new type of sensation than the previous
tracks, and gives the listener a different perspective on Jeff
Carnie’s message about loving Christ. Along with the drums,
there is a brass section present with trumpets and saxophones,
which frame the chorus flawlessly. There is a joyous feeling de-
rived through the repetition of the lyrics Iam redeemed, and the
powerful electric guitar solo at the end throws in the extra enthu-
siasm to make this song a spiritual revival.

Track 9: My Passion is a slower, more loving composition with
a lot of background vocals performed by a choir. It begins with a
soothing piano part along with touching vocals by Jeff, followed
by all female background vocalists, and a steady percussion beat.
The electric guitar is also featured, allowing entry for Jeff’s solo,
and there are several brass instruments as well.

Spectrum inspires at First Baptist Church Elk Grove Concert for Cans: a spiritual review
November 9, 6:38 AMLodi Spiritual Living ExaminerTerri Fraracci

Jeff Carnie and Spectrum

When you wake up in the morning with a soul-touching song like "Even Now" not just running through your head, but touching your heart as if the woman singing it was right there next to you, you know you have been inspired. Last night's Concert for Cans at Elk Grove Baptist Church not only achieved the goal of collecting cans for families for Thanksgiving, but was a gift for anyone hungry for spiritual food.

Combining engaging the audience with praise songs, testimony, prayer, and outstanding performance of contemporary Christian music, Spectrum drew you in and held you in the palm of their authentic love for God as they alternated between upbeat, gotta dance, Thank you God numbers, and soulful, tear-provoking solos such as "I am not ashamed of the gospel".

Spectrum is a full gospel band with five singers, full percussion, electric guitar and bass, piano, keyboard, and a beautifully blended horn section. Musically speaking, the band is tight, and professional, and just a treat to listen to. The music becomes a part of you as you tap your foot, clap your hands, and practically dance in your seat. Their performance alone would be reason enough to set aside an evening to come and hear them. But it is the spirit behind the band that draws you in and sends you home with hope, joy, and the kind of satisfaction that comes with being spiritually fed.

In my previous article - http://tiny.cc/SpectrumConcertCans - I promised that if you went you would be fed, both musically and spiritually. Jeff Carnie and Spectrum did not disappoint. Several needy Elk Grove families will now be fed on Thanksgiving and the people who brought the cans for them left full of love and inspiration, and most likely woke up this morning with a song running through their head and a sense of love, hope, and joy in their hearts.

"Jeff Carnie and Spectrum - My Passion"

There is a certain retro appeal to this worship selection, something about "My Passion" has a 'well produced '80s vibe to it all, though I couldn't exactly say why. It's not the tracks themselves, all of which are from the past few years, but something about the arrangements and production that gave this child of the '80s a flashback moment! This is, though, an enjoyable collection containing some soulful, energetic and carefully worked out arrangements of worship songs from the past 10 years or so. The mellow "Rescue", upbeat arrangement of Tomlin's "Everlasting God" the horn-filled "You Are Good" and the rocky "I Am Free" are standouts on this album of consistently listenable tracks. With crisp horns, strong funky keyboard, solid bass, gently overdriven guitar and strong vocals from both Carnie and the rest of the band it's a feel good worship album and certainly worth listening to. Though his name is prominent on the album, this Worship Pastor from Elk Grove First Baptist Church, California doesn't use it as a vehicle for self promotion, his gentle bass vocals are always present yet never intrusive and carefully worked in amongst the other vocals - the only noticable exception to this being "Say So" where Carnie sings in a slightly grating falsetto. Despite being a studio recording it does feel as though this is very much an act of worship and though Carnie was nominated "Best Local Gospel Artist" in April 2009 and has worked with the Winans, Andrae Crouch, 4Him and Anointed this isn't a Gospel album, it is a contemporary worship album. Worth a listen.

"Local arts/charity group L17 to present 'Celebrate America' concert Sunday at Mondavi"

What happens when you bring together local artists to perform patriotic music for a good cause?

Concertgoers will find out Sunday at the first concert by L17, a newly formed arts group that's bringing together nearly 200 area musicians to help raise money for a local charity that feeds the poor.

"There's so many good musicians in town and hopefully this will show how powerful this group can be when we all come together," said Steven Johnson, one of the organizers. "People want to help."

The concert at the Mondavi Center at the University of California, Davis, is called "Celebrate America," and will feature Sacramento's Camellia Symphony performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, John Williams' Olympic theme and other familiar tunes by American composers. The Sacramento Children's Chorus, Reconciliation Singers Voices of Peace and Jeff Carnie and Spectrum, one of the area's leading gospel-rock bands, will also perform.

Part of the proceeds from Sunday's concert will go to the Central Downtown Food Basket, which hands out bagged groceries every week to the needy.

The goal of the L17 Community Arts Foundation is to promote the arts – from musicians to culinary experts – and help local charities.

-----------------------------

Dear Jeff,

Thanks for submitting the material for the evaluation.

It was a pleasure listening to your songs.

also applaud that you are using your talents to create music with a positive message. That's so nice to see!

I really love your voice and gave it a "5"
a score that is rarely awarded in that category. But you earned it my friend!

To give you insight to the scoring scale above, the majority
of artists score in the 2.5 to 3.5 range in the various categories.

Whenever an artist sees a 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 or 3.5 as a score in a certain category (or categories) it means that's an area I feel they need to improve and develop.

When an artist sees 4, 4.5 or 5 as their score in a category, it's a validation from a professional, confirming that the songs are of the highest level and show strong potential in the ultra-competitive music industry.

To really raise the bar, every artist should work hard to earn a 4.5 or 5 in every category.

It's a very competitive business and people averaging in the 3's (or less) will probably not get too far without a great deal of improvement and development.

I don't give out 4's and 5's easily, so any of those you see, you have earned. Well done!

One thing to keep in mind, at least for your songs designated as "Singles" (the songs geared towards winning over radio stations, record company executives and music publishers) - try to keep Intros under 10 seconds and try to reach the Chorus between the 40 and 43 second mark.

If it's 44 seconds or longer into a song and the Chorus did not kick in yet, you should edit the arrangement accordingly.

In rap music, the chorus can come in at the 55 to 59 second mark, since the verses are traditionally longer, compared to pop and rock music.

Radio, Record Company and Music Publishing executives pay close attention to song arrangement, as they decide if an artist is developed enough for them to show interest.

If you are trying to gain the attention of record companies, music publishers, booking agents or top managers, make sure your game plan includes radio promotion, publicity, lots of gigs, Internet marketing and CD sales, at the minimum.

Just having a great CD and live show are no longer enough in today's music business.
You have to show industry executives you have a product that has been marketed successfully on the local or regional level.

I look forward to hearing from you and beginning our dialog over the next few weeks.

Best wishes,

Eugene Foley
