"Point Of View by Brian Curry"

You hardly expect the Mastic-Shirley area to be in completion with Muscle Shoals Alabama or Memphis Tennessee. But when it comes to down home blues, there it is.
The Bay Area’s contribution to that uniquely American style of music is a self-proclaimed “passionate” man named Jeff Denny.
You’ll find the 36 year old blues man at The Music Station on Montauk Highway, a store he owns where he sells and rents musical instruments and gives classed to those who have always wanted to play themselves.
His royal passion though is for the blues, smoking hot blues where the guitar does things that defy description. His playing conjures up comparisons to the music of the late Stevie Ray Vaughn or Robert Cray, two guitar masters that Jeff happens to list as his major influences.
His three song sampler cassette being sold in the Mastic-Shirley area is bringing him some attention. Entitled “Stolen Heart” it features Denny on guitar and vocals, Joe Scioscia on bass and Adrian Ippolitto on drums. The tape only gives you a taste of his hard driven blues but it leaves you thirsty for more.
Putting the cassette together was a home grown affair. Recorded in Roslyn Heights and produced at his store it was an assembly line production.
Denny has been playing the guitar for more than 20 years and has lived in Brooklyn, Texas, Woodstock, and finally here on Long Island. His business started out as a small basement spot rented from an upstairs print shop until his teaching grew to the point when he ended up taking over the whole store.
While he really enjoys teaching calling it “therapy through music” his true passion lies in writing, singing, and making his guitar sound like a broken heart crying out in pain.
He belonged to a band called Life Force for the past 10 years (as did his bass player). But their high energy, positive message rock was just being accepted. He went back to his love of blues and seems to have timed it right with the blues now acceptance and popularity.
The next gig is at the upcoming Suffolk County Fair which opens April 21st. The Stolen Heart cassette can be picked up at this store The Music Station where he can be reached at 395-3869 or at Firestone Deli, both on Montauk Hwy in Shirley.
He sings the title cut… “I don’t Bother Nobody I Just Want to Play” and he does. - LI Advance

"Jefff Denny Band 7 song CD"

Jeff Denny Band
Stolen Heart
7 song CD

Jeff Denny pretty much defines the term "blistering" when it comes to L.I. guitarists. His long awaited CD
is up to the standards to major label releases and its for sale. Along with his faithful cohorts Greg Zack (bass),
Tony Arfi (drums) and Tru (keyboards). Denny really serves up some smokin' blues with a hint of fusion
on some tracks. The signature piece here is a monster riff, the CD's closing instrumental, "Boogie Man," and it
shows off the scary chops that these vets effortlessly pour out. "The Grass is Blue" is another tasty tidbit for the
blues/jazz fans as they fire off some great solos in this foot stompin' rocker. Also of note are the punchy
"You're Confused," the plaintive "Stolen Heart" and a great narrative tale "Leon." This band is flying on the
slow blues, you can only imagine how they heat things up on the driving numbers. For fans of everything from
Stevie Ray Vaughn to Eric Clapton to the Dreggs, the Jeff Denny Band is one talented posse of blues hombres.
Go out of your way to see them live and make every effort to track down a copy of this sizzling CD.

Bio

We play strictly for the love of music and the shear appreciation of life. Leading the band Jeff Denny is a true guitar hero performing with the likes of Rick Derringer, Bernard Purdy, Royal Hall, Jules Radino of Blue Oyster Cult, and many more. Jeff has made a definate mark on the music scene. After performing for the owner of Gibson guitars Jeff soon was on contract endorsing the famous Steinberger headless guitar. Now the owner of the local Music School Jeff plays 24/7 and loves every minute of it. Dimitrios Koutsaris “The pride of Greece has been playing all his life born in Canada an exceptional drummer he gives the band it’s punch, his creative drumming allows the band to write new material without being stifled by stuff we heard already”.
Bass veteran Joe E. Scioscia, is to date one of the best bass players I have ever played with. Joey has the gift of holding up the world like atlas and never expecting anything in return. He has solidified my standard for the ultimate bass player , until I met Joe keeping the groove was only a fantasy, now my excitement for playing is renewed with every note he plays. Thanks Joe for holding it down with the Jeff Denny Band
