Bio
Jeff Fielder steps into the spotlight with his solo debut, Last Disguise, a vibrant document of a modern bluesman. Engineered and co-produced by Brad Zeffren at Seattles Chroma Sound, the album showcases Jeffs many facets: electrified southern rocker, introspective songwriter and traditional acoustic blues singer.
Jeffs career to-date has been as coveted sideman and studio musician. He has contributed acoustic and electric guitar, bass, Dobro and banjo to recordings by artists including Goodness, Shuggie, Garth Reeves, and Sera Cahoone. When hes not playing with the Radio Nationals, Kurt Bloch, Eddie Spaghetti, or Bo Diddley, hes busy performing as a solo artist, appearing on bills with the Posies, the Throwing Muses, Bobby Bare Jr., Ian Moore and Dear John Letters.
Last Disguise features Jeff as his own sideman on steel guitar, banjo, toy piano and Mellotron. The songs range from the stripped-down, solo-acoustic original Heart of Stone to a rockin cover of Leonard Cohens Everybody Knows. The albums production is clean and spare, gritty when it needs to be, and layered with delicate complexities. Jeffs vocals and songwriting invite comparison to Tom Waits, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Joe Walsh and the Allman Brothers.
