Midwest Record Recap

With a roots attitude to the core, Jones and his acoustic crew know how to ring sounds out of their axes that make it seem like they've got things amped up. A high octane session that merrily genre splices with aplomb and style, this is the kind of lo-fi set that catches fire when no one is looking and somehow cuts right to the chase in a grand fashion. – Chris Spector

Chicago Sun-Times:

"Everyone who hears this disc will say "sounds like The Black Crowes, the Allman Brothers, etc." (Jones) is a good slide guitarist and singer with the gritty voice that is de rigueur for this kind of material." - Jeff Johnson

Edmonton Sun:

“Jeff Jones is a funk artist with a heavy schooling in blues and rock. The mix is at times exceptional, with interesting, challenging lyrics, fat groovy beats and all sorts of DJ-inspired production technique. Through it all, Jones plays chunky slide guitar a la Ben Harper.” – Jeremy Loome

Santa Barbara Independent:

"Playing an eclectic mix of blues, jazz, alternative folk, and jams, Jones’s smooth, energetic voice is backed by a lively ensemble of drums, guitar, and keyboard." - SK

KPFT FM, Houston, TX

"I'm always on the lookout for new artists to feature on my show. Artists that push the blues envelope and take the genre into the future. Jeff Jones fits those requirements quite nicely." - Steve Nagel

Jeff Jones Band
Biscuits & Gravy

“One million pounds of funkified grooviness” is what the cover of Biscuits & Gravy boasts. And trust us, the Jeff Jones Band delivers.
The title track is an ode to blues, jazz and funk musicians gone by. “Talking ’bout Elvin Jones and a brand new thang / Talking ’bout Lightnin’ Hopkins and Etta James,” Jones half sings, half raps over some down-and-dirty electric guitar and a bass line straight out of Sly and the Family Stone. The rest of the album takes us through a smattering of soul, blues and, of course, funk. Jones’ voice is a snarling, high-energy baritone, able to entice listeners out of their seats and onto the dance floor in just a few bars.
“I can lend you my voice, but I can’t make you shout” Jones sings in “Can’t Make You Proud.” We beg to differ.

New Album “The Rooster Crows – The Bank Sessions” from Jeff Jones Blends American and Italian Musical Styles to Create International Fusion of Blues and Americana Soul

LAKE TAHOE, Calif., Aug. 26, 2013 — Today, singer/songwriter Jeff Jones announced the upcoming availability of his third full-length album, “The Rooster Crows – The Bank Sessions.” The album features Jeff Jones on vocals, acoustic and slide guitar, Eric Matlock on Keys (Jelly Bread) and the three members of the Italian Afro-Disco band The Bank (Brini, Loparco, Zullo).

The international take on Blues and Americana Soul comes directly from The Bank. Each member with his own distinct style, the trio is composed of Italian bass innovator Domenico Loparco (composer and teacher with more than 25 years of experience working with international artists such as Lucio Dalla, Renato Zero, Ivan Graziani, Billy Cobham, Manu Katche, Frank Gambale, Tito Puente and many more), drummer and producer Francesco Brini (Swayzak, Frank Agrario, Pinktronix, Mozzarella Records), and guitarist Emanuele Zullo.

"...His sound, a fusion of country/rock, blues, and R&B, is a direct reflection of Jones himself. Warm, easygoing, and genuine, he embodies the feeling of the music he makes. With the meatiness of George Thorogood, the grittiness of Chris Robinson, and sultriness of Ben Harper, Jones' sound has real dimension. Live, Jones is a natural. His engaging stage presence alone is proof that he's at ease and confident with who he is as a musician.
