One of the hottest hip hop artists and songwriters coming out of the West Coast has been grinding for a minute and he knows his time is coming soon! Jeff Jones hails from Los Angeles and is putting it down in the streets with his first mixtape “I Smell Smoke Vol. 1” hosted by LA’s finest DJ Felli Fel of Power 106 and the Heavy Hitters. Prepare for Jeff Jones to let you know about the non-stop hustle in the streets and the music game with features from NE-YO, D. Woods of Danity Kane, and label mates young hip hop group LAX Boyz (One Recordings) and hot new R&B group Midwest City (Universal Motown) tracks and the sounds of hit producer Poli Paul (Chingy, Black Eyed Peas).

Jeff Jones can also be heard on the soundtrack for the upcoming film “4 Life,” an urban drama starring Wood Harris (The Wire) and Elise Neal (Hustle & Flow, All of Us) as well as on ”Hey Ma” on Midwest City’s album to drop later this year.

But Jeff Jones’ hustle doesn’t stop there…behind the scenes Jeff stays in the studio writing with some of the hottest producers and artists in the game with his writing partner Solo of Midwest City known to the industry as “Wryters Block.” Jeff Jones has written for various artists including Trick Daddy, Christina Milian, Chingy, and Paul Wall, and has recently collaborated with hit producers including Jonathan "JR" Rotem, Jazze Pha, and Eric Hudson. Check out Chingy’s “Cadillac Door,” which XXL Magazine complimented as one of the stongest records on the album in an Oct. ’06 review.

Look out for more to come from Jeff Jones as he continues to work on his solo album "God Given" for release in 2007. This talented artist and songwriter is certainly one to watch.

In 2004, Jeff Jones was all set to release his debut album, God Given. Unfortunately, just as the LP was being promoted, the Warner-distributed label he was signed to (Elektra Records) folded, leaving Jones without a deal. Nonetheless, the LA native has kept himself busy writing numerous hooks for producer Poli Paul (Chingy & Midwest City‘s Cadillac Doors, LAX Boyz & Jazze Pha‘s Ride Like This, Shawty Lo, Trey Songz, & Lil Wayne‘s Supplier), and is now finally ready to release his reworked debut album, I Smell Like Smoke Too, later this month. On single I Do What I Want To, the versatile emcee blends the key ingredients of both a street and a radio hit over trunk-rattling production by Will Campbell. Jones’ hit-making power is blindingly clear on this cut, so how long will it be before another major label picks him up again?
