Bio

Jeff Matey (pronounced: may´tee)

Inspired by the Beatles and Bob Dylan, Jeff Matey first started playing live and recording his own original music in Austin, Texas in the early 90's. In 1996, he released his first album “My Little World”, a collection of songs recorded one summer in Austin in a one-room apartment. This was followed by “After the Mourning” recorded and released in New Jersey in 1997. He continued gigging in New Jersey and NYC for some time, and then took a break from the music world . . . for 10 years.

Fast forward to the twenty-tens, and Jeff Matey is back on the music scene. With the help of Lone Oak Records, he has re-released his first two albums and also a pair of singles (‘The Ghost of Who I Used to Be’ and ‘Outskirts of Love’) which were recorded live in the studio with Russell Norkevich.

And in July 2012 Lone Oak Records is releasing Jeff Matey's 3rd full-length album "Time Doesn't Wait." This new record was recorded at the historic SugarHill Studios in Houston, Texas, and was an entirely analog project - from tracking to mixing - using old school techniques throughout.

Southwest Region Finalist (1 of 10) in the 2012 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest.
