Grandma and Granpas' House

Written By: Jeffrey Allen

Grandma and Grandpas' house on Sunday
Grandma prepares for the meal
she says, "pull out the leaf on that old wooden table,
your new born cousin will here!"
and just like always, Grandpa and the kids
start up a game of croquet
as dinner nears we all walk through the garden
to pick the crop for which we pray
Chorus
and Grandpa'd tell us times were changing
I'll never forget what he'd say
he said "always know you have your family,
that's the one thing that'll always stay the same"
After dinner, Grandpa'd show his photo
names and years he know em all
the pictures range from his John Deer tractor
to race cars of our uncle Paul
and of course......
he had to walk five miles to get to school
in the pouring rain and sleeting snow
we always laughed cause we could not believe
how it was that long ago
Chorus
and Grandpa'd tell us times were changing
I'll never forget what he'd say
he said "always know you have your family,
that's the one thing that'll always stay the same"
Grandpa ends with his favorite story
of how he and Grandma met
from first site, he said "That's gonna be my wife"
been fifty years with no regrets
Chorus
and Grandpa'd tell us times were changing
I'll never forget what he'd say
he said "always know you have your family,
that's the one thing that'll always be the same"
