Bio

A very famous songwriter once said, “You need to have your heart broke real good before you can sing and write country music”. Through lost loves and the heartbreak of losing his musical and spiritual mentor when his father passed away with terminal cancer, Jeffrey East has lived more life than most.

Born into a musical family in southeast Texas, Jeffrey was breaking out of his play-pen to crawl on-stage with his family’s band. He was eventually allowed to hold a mandolin and sing with his parents and siblings at the age of three. Over the next 20 years, Jeffrey would have life hit him hard and before long he was cranking out songs of love, loss, heartbreak and healing like no one else his age.

It was during this time that Jeffrey was introduced to Harley Allen, the 2005 BMI Songwriter of the Year, who offered him the opportunity to write professionally for Harley Allen Music until 2009. Little did he know that singing his own songs in the studio would lead him to become a sought after session singer for other writers and publishing companies.

In 2009, he was personally invited by writer and recording artist Skip Ewing to attend Skip’s Horse & Writer Invitational in Wyoming. And in September, the Nashville Songwriters Association International selected Jeffrey for their coveted “Pitch to Publisher” meeting where he performed for 12 major publishing companies. This led to him being signed by Zavitson Music Group in May, 2010, as one of their staff writers. Curb Records recently invited him to take part in their writer’s retreat which typically has included only writers and artists associated with the label. He is also currently working with The Rep Agency focusing their efforts on an artist deal.

These days you will find Jeffrey honing his craft by writing regularly with songwriting colleagues including Tony Haselden (“You Know Me Better Than That” – George Strait) and Anthony L. Smith (“What About Now” – Lonestar). One thing is certain, life has affected Jeffrey in a very profound and prolific way – and it is setting Nashville on its ear with anticipation of what’s next for this young talent.
