Bio
Jeff Skorik is in a class all his own. Originally from Milwaukee Wi, he made the move to Nashville, TN after a brief stint in New York City over 15 years ago. Since in Nashville, he formed the power pop trio The Excuses in the early 90s. His first solo effort, Another Day Down, was released in 2000 and received rave reviews. The follow up CD, Love Song has just been released this spring.
Skoriks non-conformative ways regarding his music and the music business has been his compass throughout his career. The sound: a cross between blue-collar pop and slacker rock-n-roll. The message: self absorbed musical therapy. Its not that Skorik is abandoning the listener; its more about bending their ear in hopes of finding some commonality in the struggles and successes of day to day living.
As reviewed by Peter Cooper of The Tennessean, Skorik is the guy behind the counter; the guy whose motor stutters at the drive-through window; the ne'er do well friends figure could make something of himself if he'd ever get some focus. His [music] is ample evidence that Nashville's sidewalks and bar stools often hold more talent than its Music Row office buildings.
As Jeff gears up to hit the road this summer in support of love song he claims his mission is clear cut
keep it simple and keep it honest. The very two ingredients crafted in his artform that makes this artist standout in an industry that thrives on the exact opposite.
