Bio
The music of Jelly Fiche, imprinted with poetry, mystery and revery, shines forth as much on their albums as on stage and charms European and North American progressive rock fans.
A short history...
It was in September 2005 that Syd (vocals), a rock and poetry enthusiast, Eric Plante (saxophone and keyboard), fond of jazz and mood music, and Jean-François Arsenault (guitar), a fan of progressive rock, brought together their love for music and formed Jelly Fiche. Their first album, Tout ce que j'ai rêvé, was launched at the Lion d'Or in Montreal in front of a packed house. It was ranked among the ten best progressive rock albums by interna-tional acclaim and was nominated in the "Best Debut Album" category at the Progawards 2008 in Italy. The single Dans la peau d'un autre was broadcast on all the radio stations of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation throughout Quebec, on the airwaves of CKOI 96.9 FM, on the Sirius satellite radio network, as well as on regional radio stations.
In June 2008, Jelly Fiche appeared as the opening act for the Scottish artist Fish (Marillion), produced by Groupe Spectacles Gillett at the National in Montreal.
When Eric left the group in 2010 to join the Cirque du Soleil, Jean-François and Syd decided to completely produce and compose their second album Symbiose. Three accompanists then joined Jelly Fiche: Sylvain Auclair on bass, Thomas Brodeur on drums and Sebastien Cloutier on keyboard. All the members of Jelly Fiche are career musicians and are active on the local and international scene.
In 2011, back from a triumphant month long tour in France, the group launched Symbiose. This album brought them to the best known progressive rock festival in Europe, Crescendo, where they performed in front of 3000 spectators. The rave reviews have multiplied since their second album. In May 2012, Jelly Fiche is invited to perform at the Prog Sud Festival in Marseille. A review of the band has been publish in the Quebec Magazine "Paroles et Musique" (SOCAN) edition winter 2011.
In 2012, the German magazines Just for Kicks and Eclipse write a review of the band an release 35 000 copies on their compilation album of the song "Le marchand d’hommes". The same song appears also in 6000 copies on the compilation album of the magazines Rock Society (Germainy), IO Pages (Holland), Prog Resiste (Belgium), Colosus (Finland), Acid Dragon (France), Fireworks (Germany).
Jelly Fiche is recorded and distributed internationally by Unicorn Digital and distributed in Quebec by Outside Music.
