Bio
Growing up in Detroit and forced to go to church, Jims authenticity as a bluesman is instantly audible. Living in Ocean Shores for over 10 years, a recent workplace injury brought him close to death. Humbled, Jims focus on music and his young family give him the strength to heal.
Toby Andrews 'discovered' Jim in 2001 at a Belongil jam session, and they've gigged as an acoustic duo since. Sharing a love of soulful music from diverse artisits and seeking to avoid cliche their set list includes tracks from John Hammond Jr., Tom Waits, Van Morrison, Al Green and Marion Black as well as their own originals.
Toby listens to improvising guitarists like Ry Cooder and Ernest Ranglin, and has performed alongside Ray Beadle and Bridie King, as well as accompanying other Byron artists Cheynne Murphy, Wazporter and Mark Heazlett.
This year they've had the opportunity to record a 7 song EP at SAE and look forward to showcasing the material with old friends Sam Hemphill and brother Matt.
