Boston-based singer-songwriter Jen Aldana has won the Snapchat competition on “The Voice.” Carson Daly announced the news on the TV show’s Season 15 finale last week.

Aldana received votes on Snapchat throughout the season and was ultimately selected by Adam Levine, a judge on “The Voice” and the lead singer of Maroon 5. She won a blind audition in front of the four iconic red swivel chairs in a future TV season.

Originally from Medford, Aldana participated in Berklee City Music while in high school and received a full scholarship to Berklee, where she received a bachelor of music degree in songwriting, according to the college.

Aldana shared a lengthy Instagram post after the news broke, detailing her experience and previous self-doubt. She said that she almost didn’t audition, out of fear of failure and letting herself down.

“I was hours away from submitting a video before the deadline, and feeling sorry for myself because I had had a hard week,” she wrote. “I went ahead & did it anyway, because I told myself that it was better to at least try, than wonder ‘what if?’”

During the battle rounds for “The Voice” on Snapchat, according to Aldana, she was asked why her musical career hadn’t taken off yet.

“It was a haunting question I had asked myself all the time,” she said.

She “even fell into a depression” last year but found help in community, mentor, prayer, “and TELLING someone.”

Aldana advised people to “stay faithful in all you do,” not give up, and ask for help if needed.
