Jen Chapin's "Urban Folk", mixes up the elements of Jazz, Folk and Soul. The daughter of the late Harry Chapin, (Cat's in the Cradle) Jen grew up around people that were making folk music from America and abroad. She's been highly influenced by groove and writes songs with harmonies that are simple but not cliched. Jen is the winner of Oxygen Media's emerging artist search, which earned her a demo deal with V2 Records. She was recently honored by The USA Songwriting Competion for her song “Indispensable,” with First Prize in the lyrics category and with the Third Prize Overall among over 30,000 entries. A graduate of Brown she is a Chair of the Board for WHY, World Hunger Year, the international organization committed to ending world hunger. In addition to her club duo she is available with her band as well as for workshops/lectures. Jen Chapin CD's are distributed through Purple Chair Music.
