Bio

Jen comes from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She grew up in love with music. When she was 10 she would lip sing to Modonna and New Kids On The Block. As a child she grew up with a guitar in the house along with every other instrument. Weekends consisted of many jam sessions with her 2 older brothers, mom, dad and whoever happened to be around.
At 14 she learned her first 3 chords and wrote a song the same day. Writing songs became more then a hobby it became her passion and the one thing that would hold true and consistent as she grew up.
From there she mostly played at church. Writing mostly spiritual music and playing in different churches around the city.
At 25 Jen decided to sell everything she owned and gave away all that she didn't sell. She packed 2 bags and her guitar and headed the west coast. When she arrived the whole myspace thing started to get pretty big so she made a music account and found herself getting invited to the Backstage Lounge on Granville island to perform. That’s when the “gig bug” set in. She went on to play in different venues in the city and believing she could really do this for a living. She found that for the next 3 years her home would be in East Van. Change of life, friends and new music started evolving her own music writing and the way she sang.
Her influences have been Damien Rice, Brooke Fraser, Need To Breathe, The Script, Jennifer Knapp, Jann Arden, Jars Of Clay and Ray Lamontagne.
Jen took a brief time away from the music scene to do more writing.
Now with a whole new set list Jens been playing shows all around Vancouver with amazing local artists.
Jen is also working on her first full length album that she’s recording at Echo Plant and The Hive studios with recording engineer Curtis Buckoll.
With the help of amazing musicians, artists and friends she hopes to have the album done by March 2011 or earlier. Of corse making an album costs money so it all depends on that. You can make a donation through pay pal on the first page of www.jenmiller.ca

“The One” is the first single off the album and was released to myspace, facebook and reverbnation. To get the track for free just add her on facebook ‘JEN MILLER MUSIC’ and post her links to your profile.
