"Jenna Wolf releases debut single, "Wave""

"Wave" is a new #verifiedbop, created and produced by Jenna Wolf, an up-and-coming singer/songwriter. Even though the 18 year old pulls inspiration from artists in the public eye, like Billie Eilish, and others so secret we didn't want to ask, her sound is quite difficult to place. "Wave", is orchestral and trippy; light and rough; soft with a sharp edge. It is mesmerizing. The sound feels entirely new and we are very excited to keep up with Jenna as she continues to develop this unique dreamy-indie-synth-folk style. Jenna will have new music out in early 2021, but be sure to check out "Wave", your new go-to song for both meditation and ballroom dancing beforehand.

1. What can you tell us about the new release?

Wave is an ethereal mix of synth bells and beautiful vocals offset into a more catchy space by the bassline. It is a great song to listen to when you're trying to rest. The lyrics are simple but beautiful.

2. What was the process of creating the song?

I wrote the beginnings of the song a few years ago, I don't really know where the idea came from. All it was at the time was "Just like a wave that hits a beach/you reach for something out of reach". I never actually wrote this song down, I almost forgot about it. But then during quarantine I decided I would learn how to produce my own songs and when I was thinking about which one of my songs would be the easiest to produce, I thought of that song bit i had come up with years ago and decided it would be good to expand on it and turn it into a full song. I knew i wanted it to be simple and generally more focused on the instrumental than on the vocals so I didn't really write that much more in terms of lyrics than what i already had

3. What was the most surprising thing about the process?

I guess I was surprised at how well it turned out, making Wave was my first time ever using logic. I was also surprised at how difficult it is to get the vocals to sound just right

4. If you had to dedicate the song to someone, who would it be and why?

I guess I'd dedicate it to anyone who feels like they can't quite do something that they really want to do, that's what the song's about. It's about the struggle to become the best version of yourself that you can be, the struggle to do the right thing even when it's difficult.

5. Where does the new release fit into the timeline of your musical journey so far?

Wave is my first released song but it certainly won't be my last. I have several projects coming up in the next year that I can't wait to release

6. What can fans expect next, musically or otherwise?

My next song, and in fact my next few songs, are going to be very different from Wave, I don't really confine myself to just one style or one genre of music, I'm influenced by a very wide variety of artists in all different styles and I think as I release more music that will become evident

7. What do you do when you're not making music?

I love to draw in my free time, other than that I'm just playing video games or checking Twitter. I don't have much free time because of homework and school so when I get free time I often use it to work on my music.

Jenna Wolf is an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Massachusetts. She has been writing songs since she was ten and has taken voice lessons and joined choruses starting at eleven. She is also a self-taught guitarist, ukulele player, and music producer. Despite her classical training, Jenna's voice is versatile and she enjoys working in every genre you can think of, (and probably some you can't think of as well). The music blog Sonic Smoothie has described her debut single "Wave" as "orchestral and trippy; light and rough; soft with a sharp edge" while Smash Mouth of All Star fame has called it "cool...def a vibe". Someday, Jenna hopes to tour the United states with her music and attract fans who resonate with her and her story.
