BandPopSinger/Songwriter

A night listening Jenni Alpert is like having a sensual sultry glass of fine red wine with a taste of rich dark chocolate in the fine hours of the evening. 'Pieces' Alpert's latest release is a collection of soulful haunting melodies with flawless delivery.

Biography

You may hear of her as she buzzes through your town gulping down large amounts of coffee while scatting haunting melodies with flawless delivery. This sensual-soul singer masterfully fuses influences of soul, folk, jazz, and rock simply with the use of her voice, piano, and guitar playing. At moments you may be reminded of Joni Mitchel, Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, Jeff Buckley, or maybe even a hint of Billie Holiday, but Alpert's sultry voice and captivating stage presence offers fresh new flavors.

Originally from Los Angeles, Alpert's grass roots approach has granted her the experience of touring the US, parts of Europe and Asia. This girl is more than just an artist. With no more outside support other than a small personal budget that once was a hard earned scholarship from UCLA to teach music in an inner city elementary school, Alpert managed to invest and successfully recoup in the record making and touring world to keep her afloat. She has independently release 5 albums and 2 live recordings.

Lyrics

Heaven

Written By: jenni alpert

sitting in my car
trying to remember
what you said to me
sitting next to me
spending our whole lives
making up for what our parents did
try to get over it
embrace the taste in my mouth so bitter
heaven is a place i'm running from
don't know what's real
don't think i'll heal
don't want to do what i should
heaven is a place i'm running from
don't know what's real
don't think i'll heal
don't want to be good for you
embrace the silence
but i want you there empty and screaming
never know what it feels to give love while receiving
traces of wasted on my face
drunk and i'm drowning in your wisdom
why didn't i listen
now i'm caught in memories of you
heaven is a place i'm running from
don't know what's real
don't think i'll heal
don't want to do what i should
heaven is a place i'm running from
don't know what's real
don't think i'll heal
don't want to be good for you
