"Make Time for Jennifer Carbonell"

Make Time for Jennifer Carbonell
Perry Twins: How did you get started in the music industry?

Jennifer Carbonell: I have been singing as far back as I can remember, but professionally my first commercial release was with Miami based producers Murk... aka The Funky Green dogs. They called me up, and asked me if I would like to lay down a vocal on the last track of their album titled .... Doesn't Really Matter ... that track would later be released on Tommy Boy Records. It made #6 on the Billboard club charts , and was also featured on one of the Queer as Folk compilations.

PT: We love that track! We still play it often. What inspires you to create music?

JC: A really funky amazing beat, with a dark, and moody vibe. Love inspires me..with a bit of drama attached as well..haha

PT: Who are some of your favorite musical artists?

JC: All I can say is my Ipod is sick!!! I have all bases covered from Fleetwood Mac- Pink Floyd..to Bob Marley..Phylis Hyman, Earth Wind and Fire & Mark Anthony- Pit Bull.. to the Perry Twins of course!!

PT: Ha! If you could sing a duet with any other singer, which singer would it be with and why?

JC: Well the old school side of me would say that James Brown... may he rest in piece... would be some one that I would have loved to have been on stage with.....because he was the epitome of funk...the God Father of soul!!!!! His Music is timeless!! and currently I would have to say that George Michael would be the artist that I would absolutely love to collab with.. ... I love his voice!! His music is sexy, and soulful just the way I like it. Very Dance..Pop..and R&B at the same time.

PT: Where can your fans see you next?

JC: In March I will be at the WMC in my hometown of Miami, Florida. I will be attending several parties and appearing at the panels...So I am sure I will run into everyone there at some point.

PT: What projects are you currently working on?

JC: I have a single out right now titled Broken Pieces that has made the billboard hot air play dance charts and is currently doing very well for me..I have remixes from some of the hottest producers like legendary ... Kenny Dope...Tom Stephan....Friscia & Lamboy... and Jerry Perero. I am working on my next hot single to follow up with Broken Pieces...wait till you here whats up next!!! I am changing it up a little bit.

PT: Thanks for the interview and we hope to see you in Miami! Everyone needs to check out the awesome "Broken Pieces" at www.perfectbeat.com

Broken Pieces has been mixed by Friscia & Lamboy, Tom Stephan (Superchumbo), Jerry Ropero, and legendary Kenny Dope.

Jennifer Carbonell was born on October 25th, in Miami Florida. She began to express her unique talents at the young age of four. Being of Latin descent, born to Cuban & Puertorican parents, Jennifer has enjoyed exploring and expanding her repertoire by recording sensational work in both English and Spanish.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has collaborated with such artists as Inner Circle, Reggae Ambassadors, who are well known for their hit "Bad Boys" which is the theme song on the television show Cops. She appeared on their 2001 album, "Barefoot in Nigeria". Jennifer also made a profound impression in a collaboration with the former EMI recording artist, Tito Puente Jr., son of the legendary "Mambo King" Tito Puente, in which she is featured in two of his albums. She was also a former member of his group The Latin Rhythm Crew in which she toured all of South and North America.

Jennifer Carbonell's talents as a singer/songwriter have also allowed her to established substantial ties with legendary song writer Nick Martinelli who has produced and written songs for singing sensations - Diana Ross, Phyllis Hyman, Regina Bell, Teddy Pendergras, Rupaul and many more. Together they co-produced/wrote four of her earliest dance recordings. That was when Jennifer fell in love with dance music, claiming that she felt at home with this style in particular because it allowed her to be very versatile combining both her soulful R&B style along with her Latin roots.

Her first record releases were with George Morel formally of Strictly Rhythm. Together they worked on several records that were released on his Indie Groove On Records. During that time she remained in the underground for a few years growing and sharpening her skills as a song writer and vocalist, and performing at events/venues such as Calle Ocho- the biggest street festival held every year in Miami - to all the Pride Fests anywhere where she could be heard and unleash her passion for her music.

Jennifer Carbonell then went on to score a Billboard Dance Chart hit in the summer of 2005 when she appeared as a featured artist on the song "Doesn't Really Matter", a Tommy Boy release which appeared on the "Queer as Folk" soundtrack. The song "Doesn't Really Matter", a collaboration with fellow Miami producers Oscar G and Ralph Falcon a/k/a The Funky Green Dogs- a/k/a - Murk. She later met Hex Hector- DJ and a Dance Grammy Award winner known for remixing music for some of the biggest names in the business, such as J.Lo, Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Tony Braxton and many more. He had moved to Miami from New York and met Jennifer through a mutual friend who took him to hear Jennifer at one of her shows. It was not long before they were in the studio collaborating on new music. One of the songs they did together - titled "Deliverance" was later released on Peter Rauhofer's label Star 69 records.

In 2007 Jennifer Carbonell's much anticipated single "Time"?, as a solo artist was released through Nervous Records and was produced by Friscia & Lamboy. It reached to number 1 on XM satellite radio BPM, and played at numerous Dance stations throughout the Country. Jennifer has collaborated in the past few years with several different producers. Claiming that it is so much fun working with different people from all parts of the world....they all have their own particular style, and variety is always great especially in Dance Music..where the sounds change every so often?. Some of her club hits to date are “Reaction" produced by Austin Leeds, and "Erupt" by Superchumbo, "Dance the night Away" produced by DJ Dervish of Poland (a song that is set to be released at the end of 2008 by London Based Dance Label Metro Groove).

Jennifer Carbonell sparkles with glamour, sex appeal and charm, and there is no denying that this girl is on her way to the top - making her one of the TOP NOTCH DANCE DIVAS OF TODAY!
