Biography

If you think you’re ready for a new R&B crossover Pop legend, whose music embodies the ingredients and elements to inspire the hearts of many, ensuring the fate of a great song, compelled by its listeners, to be named “Classic”? Then you may be ready for Jennifer Edison. A native of “Motown” Detroit, MI who’s great aunt Florence Ballard sang with The Supremes, Edison takes no prisoners when it comes to her singing and songwriting talent. “I want all of my songs to have a point. Even if the point is to just have fun, I like to write songs that have a purpose and an overall message. I like to break down a situation and talk about things that we all probably know but never really say out loud, or maybe in a way we never thought about”, she declares. Edison’s songs are expressed with the delicacy of her buttery smooth voice and the thunder of her emotions as she unites the dynamics of the lyrics and music and explores the highs and lows of her vocal range.

No stranger to hard work and dedication, Edison has sang, written, co-produced and self-promoted two solo albums recruiting fans all over the world from the United States to Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Europe, United Kingdom and more. Her first album entitled JLE “That’s Me”, released on the internet in 2003, garnered her a nomination for Best R&B Album of The Year by the Los Angeles Music Awards and helped build her an international buzz. Late 2005 Jennifer began promoting her second album entitled “A Thousand Wings” whose poetic array of melodies sets her aside from what most would term “independent” and shows those who listen that she can indeed compete with the top artists of today.

Her first single entitled “I’m out” captured the attention of radio program directors as well as club DJs all over the world. "She's a hot new artist with the complete package. She's got the look, the vocal ability and a solid record. She's a star in the making" says Kelvin Quarles, PD of KMOJ-FM in Minneapolis, MN. A compliment on Edison’s music was not hard to find as Ralph Meachum, PD of WFXM-FM (Foxie 107) in Macon, GA says "I think she's a phenomenal talent with an extremely bright future. Don't sleep on this one!" Ms. Edison’s shameless self promotion managed to obtained radio airplay on over 30 commercial stations in the US and has her single highly sought after among DJ Record Pools in the US and Germany. She climbed into the top 100 on several record pool charts in the US and in less than a day shot to #3 on the DJ League of Europe’s promotion charts in September, 2006 where she remains in the top 10 amongst major label artists. Jennifer also demanded the attention of the press having her songs, press releases, or interviews published by over 30 internet publications including Sohh.com, TLA-PRonline, Singersroom.com, Manhunt.com and many more. Her internet buzz spread from the #1 Unsigned artist on Soundclick.com to winning over 12 awards on Garageband.com including Best Female Vocals and Best Lyrics. With a B.A. in Marketing from Michigan State University, intimidation is not a factor in Jennifer’s willingness to get involved in the not-so-artsy business aspects of her career.

To say, however, that she is alone in her endeavors would be greatly misleading as she is joined with her Father, and her older brother Charles Edison who is the brains behind the music on most of the songs she has recorded. They have a chemistry that can only be explained with one word – Genetics. “My brother and I just work so well together. Sometimes I’ll write a song with a melody, but no music, just the words”, she says. “Then he’ll show me a track that he already made that totally fits what I wrote. It’s amazing”. Her music takes the face of real life situations with a diverse style that reflects Edison’s musical tastes and influences, which includes artists such as Whitney Houston, Brandy, and Lauren Hill, to name a few. Edison’s future is sure to capture a larger than life portion of R&B and Pop fans around the world.

Come Back

COME BACK
(Written Jennifer Edison)

VERSE
Every other evening before I lay down to sleep
I’ll be praying wishing that you would come back to me
Sometimes I cry in my sleep and don’t know if my dreams
Are here to deliver me only temporarily

PRE-CHORUS
Cause I need you
I hear your voice whispering
But that’s only me hoping
That you were still here with me

CHORUS
I know I shouldn’t be but I can’t help thinking that
You will come back to me
If I go where we would hang out
And wait around a little while maybe
You would come back to me
If I pull out all the memories
All the pictures of you and me I think
You would come back to me
But this is my reality I’ll just write it in my diary
I miss you baby

VERSE
Every single minute of every hour we spent
Was truly so amazing you are a total blessing
And I will never forget all of the things that we did
And I just wish I had time to tell you how much you meant

BRIDGE
If you can hear me baby if your listening
If there’s a chance that you would get this message
If you would do this one thing and grant me this one wish
And come back to me
If you can hear me baby if your listening
If there’s a chance that you would get this message
If you would do this one thing and grant me this one wish
And come back to me

I'm Out

I’M OUT
(Written by Jennifer Edison)

VERSE
Now first of all let’s get it out and get it straight
I don’t know who you trying to regulate
but you really should not be making that mistake cause I am not the one
See I’ve been trying to be nothing but nice to you
trying to make it perfect for my baby boo
but you do not appreciate the things I do so there’s gone be some changes.

PRE-CHORUS
I never thought you would lose your cool
never thought you would do the things you do
but baby boy I got news for you
I’m not with it, I’m not with it

CHORUS
When it comes down to the get down I’m figuring out
that you really ain’t down so go ahead
you gone front me out in front of your friends
If it’s like that I’m out
When it comes down to the get down I’m figuring out
that you ain’t never been down so go on
you gone try to flip the game like I wouldn’t know
If it’s like that I’m out

VERSE
I never wanted it to have to come to this
You could’ve came to me without throwing a fit
when we both know that it’s your guilty conscience that’s got you acting like this
See all you had to do was be a real man
take responsibility for your own actions
and stop blaming me trying to flip the game on me cause it’s not working

BRIDGE
Think you can disrespect and I’ll be taking it oh no, it is a no go
If you want to play games there’s no way I can stay I can do better without you

MAYBE
(Written by Jennifer Edison)

VERSE
Maybe you don’t mean those things
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)
You’ll be sorry you heart me
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Maybe I’ll see that through it all you really love me
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Maybe one day you’ll change your ways
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)

CHORUS
Maybe (just maybe maybe)
I can’t keep (I can’t keep)
Living (I can’t keep on living)
In the maybe maybe maybe maybe
Maybe (just maybe maybe)
I can’t keep (I can’t keep)
Living (I can’t keep on living)
In the maybe maybe oh in the maybe.

VERSE
Maybe you’ll be here with me and baby we’ll be happy
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Oh and this time it’s gonna be different
Things are gonna work out right
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Maybe you’ll decide all you want is me
And I’ll have all your loving oh
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Maybe we’ll be finally married (maybe maybe maybe maybe)

BRIDGE
Maybe you’ll apologize tell me how you feel inside
Though what you did was wrong maybe you can make it right ooh
And that will be the last time (maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Maybe what I said before I’ll just have to say again
Maybe if I say it loud this time you will listen
And maybe this will not ever happen again (maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Maybe you’ll apologize tell me how you feel inside
Though what you did was wrong maybe you can make it right ooh
(Maybe maybe maybe maybe)
Maybe I will leave this fantasy.
