"Irish Times, The Ticket Gig of The Week March 2011"

'Jennifer Evans and her two-man band The Ripe Intent provided a master class in smart, edgy, imaginative pop at Dublin’s Twisted Pepper on Wednesday. The sublime, intuitive playing and Evans’s remarkable purr of a voice have always been to the fore, but the songs are now revealing deep subtleties as the moods swing and the music’s dark, feral blues unfold. An act you don’t come across everyday, and a performer growing majestically into her skin. '– The Ticket, Gig Of The Week 4 March 2011 - The Ticket, Irish Times

"HWCH 2010:Let's hear it for the optimists, Jim Carroll"

'There was a lot of wowing going on after the Jennifer Evans’ show from some of the more musically sussed international industry delegates...... Evans and her band slowly and surely began to kill ‘em subtly with those intricate, dangerous, intense songs of hers. Akin to Tim Buckley when he mainlining the freakiest sounds of the universe or Joni Mitchell when she was heading for the remotest hills, Evans’ songs pull you in, turn your around and push you out the other side gagging for more. - Irish Times

"Hard Working Class Heroes 2010, Stve Cummins"

The find of the festival for this reviewer, Evans set at The Workman’s Club was at times majestic and always soulful. Her minimal sound is routed in folk, jazz and blues (without ever overtly placing its foot in either of those genres) and comes wrapped in her striking high-pitched vocal that brings to mind St. Vincent or even Tim Buckley. At The Workman’s Club she had all in the palm of her hand while a sublime duet with Dubliner Caoimhe Hogarty on a particularly folky number proved a post-festival talking point. - State.ie

Bio

Jennifer is supported by the Irish Arts Council and is currently recording a debut album with Producer Stephen Shannon. 'Salient Point' EP was released with critical acclaim in 2010 on Jennifer's own label, Scuffle, which lead to a performance this year alongside Anna Calvi on episode 9 of the globally broadcasted music television program, Other Voices.
Ardent emotional experiences and daunting but lush perceptions of being feed the Salient Point EP. Vocals are soulful, adorned with harmonies and counter melodies and are lyrically unique in origin. The music is alternative in genre but also finds it’s roots in Jazz, Folk and Blues.
Latest shows can range from 'noir- folk' to a sneaky style of Dub depending on the what’s right for the occasion and how long the set is! Empirical knowledge, exoticism, a questioning of identity and home.....whether solo, accompanied or playing with the full band the music's target is up your spine.
