"A MUSICAL ASSAULT"

...Jennifer Marie unloaded a musical assault on the students of Niagara University [11/15/04]...What makes Marie mesmerizing is her layers of sound and substance...Dark, edgy, pop-rock...

On Friday, with more fanfare than perhaps expected within the intimate "Rockin' the Ratt" setting, Marie performed more than a dozen songs...

She was wilder, yet very lady-like: a black dress, biker boots, and her hair was more red than blonde...

Surrounded by both candles and strobe lights...[Marie] assaulted her keyboard with such vigor, one expected the instrument to just flip into the crowd at any moment. Marie's arms flailed, her legs kicked and stomped the pedal with such vigor: would [she] just explode in a blast of passion?...The NU students responded in turn, singing, clapping and shouting for encores...

At the conclusion, students wait to meet Marie, to offer approval for what they've heard...ANYTHING BUT PLAIN, AND MILES ABOVE..."

Bio

Where are the girls of rock? Let's care for a minute and check this out:

If a showstopping, heart-pounding, sweaty, bringin'-out-the-animal-inside, is the kind of girl you like to see rocking it hard, then Jennifer Heieck is the candidate you've been looking for. The overwhelming voice on this little woman will blow you away... and then trandscend every move you make with her catchy, clever lyrics. From a heartfelt power ballad behind the piano, to in-your-face rock, Jennifer Heieck's raw, live performance is her strength. Described as a "rockin' Alicia Keys", mix in influences from U2, Pat Benatar, and today's modern rock, and feast your taste buds for a sexy rocker girl sure to get your blood pumping.

Heieck was born in Fairfax, VA. Her early years were spent listening to records from country artists like, Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton, to pop divas such as Whitney Houston and Madonna. With the first taste of sexy classic rock coupled with powerhouse singers, she knew exactly what she wanted to do. At the age of 10 she moved to upstate New York where she began piano lessons. A lenient teacher allowed for the likes of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" and "Something" by the Beatles, putting Bach and Mozart on the back burner- where it stayed.

Throughout high school, Heieck spent time in the music mezzanine jamming at the piano with friends, and singing her heart out. Eventually she went on to write her own music, form a first band, and soon after produced and released three records, with countless rock shows under her belt.

She plays around the country, to mostly college students looking for an escape to hear, as one put it, "An artist that spoke with very deep emotions...the performance was stunning."

She has had the honor of sharing the stage with such acts as Gavin DeGraw, Great Big Sea, and Sarah Harmer. Most recently Heieck performed on January 28th, as a back up singer on ABC's Regis & Kelly with world renowned Enya, and on the CBS Morning Show which aired March 11th.

Jennifer Heieck is a singer/songwriter/producer and has performed over 150 college shows in addition to live club venues, and sold over 5,400 records independently up and down the East Coast. When not touring, Heieck spends her time in the studio working with a slew of producers and songwriters. Working on a batch of new songs, it seems another record could be sooner than later. She has also studied with vocal coach, William Riley (Celine Dion, Jessica Simpson.) Heieck's latest album, Simple Girl has brought forth the most polished work to date; co-produced with Grammy-award winning producer/engineer Earl Cohen (Pink, Jessica Simpson, Cyndi Lauper).

Today, Heieck's rocking out local clubs, packing people in, while jamming out originals with a couple cover interpretations thrown in. With local all stars: drummer Joe Lana (Uncle Plum), and guitarist Ken Ferguson and bassist Eric Neu (Puddle), one can only hope this force whirls towards a town near you soon.
