Jennifer leads the Whalers with a Joni Mitchell songbird quality tempered by Carole King’s songwriting style and a delivery touching on everyone from Chrissie Hynde to Edie Brickell. - Dante Dominick, Austin.com
"From the sound of the trenchant folk/blues of Gods & Nations, and the driving, impassioned emotion at the heart of "Patron", Leonhardt is a gale force to be reckoned with." - Pop Culture Press
"Leonhardt plays blues with vivid modern lyrics and harmonies. For her latest album, she wove the influence of her family of artists and musicians and the impact of Katrina into flowing Americana ballads." - Austin American Statesman
[Gods & Nations] "is as raw and genuine as you're going to find." - 1340 Magazine

Bio
"Why this girl is not one of the top acts in the country is beyond me--her singing is like throwing a lit cigarette out a car window, she's an absolute runaway wildfire. Her band's live show is some of the hardest, rootsy-est rhythm-n-blues-'grass ever." Don Wolff/Talent Buyer, South Padre Island Music Festival (Nov 2, 2007)

Austin-based Jenny & the Whalers aren't actually whaling. In fact, they don't even sing that many sea shanties, although they are open to requests. Led by singer/songwriter Jennifer Leonhardt and based in Austin after several years of touring and following the release of a debut studio album Gods & Nations (GrassRoots Records 2007). The single "Gentlemen's Bet" was also out on ShutEye Records' United State of Americana Volumn 4 compilation with tracks by Bobby Bare and BR5-49. Last summer, the single 'Homeland' was listed in the Top 20 Americana Songs of 2008 by KRVM in Eugene OR. Keep an eye out for the November 2008 release of Minstrel's Daughter.
