Bright, simple, pure, beautiful. Jennifer Paskow has a voice that is as sweet as it is haunting.
With a banjo the perfect accompaniment, ‘Somewhere to rest my head’ could have proved the perfect soundtrack to Dawson’s Creek had it been written five years earlier. Heartfelt and at times shyly versed, Ms Paskow takes her position alongside the likes of Jewel (Pieces of You), Paula Cole and Heather Nova having produced a record of high quality in a style one can comfortably recline in a hammock to.
Sleepy vocals and playful strings (banjo, ukelele, slide guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar) dominate this album and accompany one another naturally and effortlessly. You will be humming along to ‘Beautiful I remember’ after your first listen and indeed I would have to say this is the most eventful track on this record, with the other delicate melodies sitting alongside it, not exceeding it unfortunately. This would perhaps be my greatest criticism if you could call it one.
A perfect album to unwind to, ‘Somewhere to rest my head’ is inoffensive folk pop that follows a formula which is as appealing to some as it is repellent to others. Not so much a journey as a suspended moment, this album should be played down low, candles lit, bath drawn.

Well, I was hooked from the chorus of the first song. What a great tune. The melody is infectious and Jennifer's lovely voice makes it perfect.
Happily I can say that the recording keeps going strong throughout. Paskow is a great songwriter, these are very nice folk-pop songs.
I like how she uses minor keys which results in the songs being interesting and not what you'd expect.
Stand out Songs: "Beautiful I Remember You", "Dear Brother" but they're all good - Amy Lotsberg-Producer of Collected Sounds
If you're a fan of female vocalists with a little grit to their sound, you'll like this gal. "So Much Right takes on a strummed acoustic sound outlined by Paskow's signature raspy vocals, while other songs, like "Nowhere to Run" have more of a blues beat. I wish I could get into and understand her subject matter more,because her sound is heavenly folkish.

Jennifer Paskow wants to speak to the true humanity of her listener, and because of this her songs impart a vulnerability that draws one into her world and makes it theirs for the moment. Her honey like vocals, naked lyrics and unaffected delivery combine to create an earthiness reminiscent of the singer/songwriters of the 70's that she so admires.
Enveloped by music from a young age, Jennifer's parents introduced her to the songs of her great childhood loves Carole King, Stevie Wonder and Bob Dylan. Inspired by her newfound friends and her new piano teacher, she began to write her own songs at the age of 9. Jennifer has since relied on writing as a means to understand herself and her environment. It's usually only after the song has been written and sung many times that she feels the process is complete.
In college Jennifer was awakened to the many treasures of the jazz world. Billie Holiday and Abbey Lincoln especially impressed Jennifer with their emotional expressiveness and have since been a major influence on her vocal style. However, it wasn't until after college that her musical path started to become apparent. Post graduate life took her in several directions, from freelance caterer for music videos and t.v. commercials to studying for a Master's degree in music therapy. While aiming to heal others with music Jennifer was reminded of the powerful healing effect making music had on herself. She sat down with her guitar and began writing the songs that would eventually result in her debut CD, Somewhere to Rest My Head, a collection of music which is deeply personal, yet tremendously universal.
Jennifer has lent her vocals to Anticipate Recordings electronic artist Ezekiel Honig, trip hop band Beyond the Bliss and the Dekel Bor modern jazz trio.
