"Miss Jenny Goforth – Singer/Songwriter Black Belt Debut Album and Tour Have Her Entertaining Fans and Opportunities"

Bricktown Records recording artist Miss Jenny Goforth is a rising star in country music and in the ATA. As a 1st Degree Black Belt in the Leadership program at Lee's ATA Black Belt Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, she is also a skillful assistant instructor and program director, instructed by Mr. Albert Lee, 4th Degree Black Belt. Miss Goforth began martial arts training three years ago and has pursued it with intensity, even earning a State Championship title in Weapons last year. When she's not in the do-jahng working out, helping teach classes, or meeting with new students, she is usually writing, rehearsing, recording, or performing on-stage.

Now Miss Goforth has kicked it up a notch, releasing her debut EP "Running Red Lights", distributed by Bricktown Records. It's the realization of a dream turned into a goal and earned through hard work and self-discipline, not to mention a beautiful talent. Success in the music business is reached in the same way that success in Taekwondo is achieved: focus, sincere effort and perseverance.

"I'm so grateful to ATA and Mr. Lee for the principles he teaches every day in his classes," Miss Goforth says. "I try to apply those principles not only when I'm at the do-jahng, but also in my every day living, including my music career. I've learned to not give up. If doors close you have to recognize that there's a reason. You have the choice to push it open or change directions, but quitting is not an option! This is one of the great things everyone learns in the ATA Leadership Program."

The new four-song EP crosses genres – blues, country, rock, Motown – and centers around real life circumstances. The title track "Running Red Lights" is a fun, upbeat song that will be her first music video. "Hurricane Jane" showcases her soulful voice and talent on the harmonica, while "Show Me A Woman" and "Still Smiling" reveal a heartfelt side. "My main goal for this recording was to stay true to me and create great, authentic music," she says.

Miss Goforth met the man who would become her album's producer, award-winning producer/songwriter Mr. Dale Oliver, at ATA after her instructor played some of her music for him in the school one day. Miss Goforth wrote or co-wrote all of the songs on "Running Red Lights", including two songs on which she collaborated with Mr. Oliver.

The new album is surely a major milestone but it is nowhere near the end. As in martial arts, the achievement of one goal is the start of another! Tour dates are being filled and will be announced later this year. "I'm very excited to get out on the road and play live for my fans. Music is in my bones; it's in my soul. I can't deny it or contain it. Music moves me in every way," says Miss Goforth. "It's been a long road to here," she says, "but I'm just getting started. I have never been more fired up and excited to share my music. I have never been more certain of who I am."

WTTU/ATA/STF congratulates Miss Jenny Goforth on the great successes of her artistic pursuits to date, and wishes her many more in the future.

"Jenny Goforth by S Cuppari"

Jenny Goforth is living her dream. She is passionate about her dream and thrives on achieving one milestone at a time. Her unique sound shows this passion as it's out there alive and kicking - she wants listeners to believe in the music as she does and the feedback has been incredible. Take a look at Jenny Goforth - you may just become a fan.

SC: You say at your site, "I am living the dream, but this musical journey is just getting started. I never been more certain of who I am." Is the dream as real as the journey to stardom?

JG: I am enjoying each step of this journey to reaching my goals. There are still many goals that I have but I'm taking it one step at a time and trying to enjoy and celebrate every victory, no matter how big or small. It definitely feels good to sing and write the music that I love. Staying true to myself is very important to me. Dale Oliver who produced my EP, did an amazing job mixing in my influences and coming out on the other side with a sound that is unique and truly "me".

SC: You continue to say, "I have never been more fired up and excited to share my music." What do you say to those who are not passionate about their music?

JG: I think you should be passionate about anything you choose to do. It doesn't get better than doing something you love. There are so many people that get stuck doing something they don't enjoy and always wonder "what if". I am blessed to have discovered at an early age what I wanted to do, and I've been working toward it every since. To those artists/musicians that aren't passionate about their own music, I would say to step away, regroup, and evaluate your motives for your music. Fans can tell if you're not into what you're doing. I love passionate artists. That's what I'm drawn to.

SC: What do you want to accomplish when touring for your debut EP "Running Red Lights"?

JG: My goal for touring is to entertain and meet new fans. I like love recording in the studio, but performing is my passion. I want to inspire people with my music.

SC: "Billboard" is quite impressed by your debut EP. How does that make you feel?

JG: I'm excited that Billboard likes my new music. I write my songs from my heart and it can be a scary thing to put yourself out there for the world. I believe in these songs and this project, but it's nice to have others support and dig it.

SC: Why the title "Running Red Lights?"

JG: "Running Red Lights" took on a life of itself in the studio. I had just written this song going into the project, and I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I knew it was a great song. That indescribable "magic" happened when I tracked it with the musicians. It was so cool to see how everyone followed my energy while adding their spin and personality on the song. I think it's a catchy song. I often joke that I'm "Running Red Lights' every day. I have a hard time getting anywhere on time. LOL

SC: What has the feedback been like for "Running Red Lights"?

JG: I have had so much support and great feedback on "Running Red Lights". I'm excited to see what happens with it.

SC: What advice would you give upcoming artists?

JG: My advice for a new artist is to stay true to you. So many people in the music biz take artists and try to clone them into something that's already out there just to make money. That approach is formulated and I believe stifles an artist's creativity. I would also say to stay focused on your goals and work hard. If you don't work at it you'll never get better. - Global Music Star Magazine

""Running Red Lights" - EP Review"

"Running Red Lights" - Jenny Goforth doesn’t just possess a striking, Chinese-fortune-cookie-kinda name. The Kings Mountain, N.C.-bred singer/songwriter has a way of turning her barroom country blueprint into an effective froth of blues, rock and soul. That might have something to do with her acumen on harmonica and guitar, alongside a rich, rustic Southern vocal imprint that’s as real as rain. Now based in Nashville (after performing since age 3), Goforth is paying dues as she works on her 2011 debut EP “Running Red Lights” with Grammy winner Dale Oliver, putting in time at the Bluebird Café, Basement, 3rd & Lindsley, Rocketown, Listening Room and Cadillac Ranch. First cuts reveal a firestorm of talent from the fetching blonde beauty: the harlot-having-her-way anthem “Hurricane Jane” and “Running Red Lights”—about throwing caution to the wind for that man—are both an effective showcase for the burgeoning artist—if not career breakers. - Billboard

Bio

It was 1994. The lights were dim and the sound of screaming fans filled the Charlotte Coliseum. The crowd was chanting “encore” and the hairs on my arms were standing straight up. It was as if lightening had struck me and in that moment I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I wanted to feel the lights of that big stage. I was a young wide-eyed girl in the very back of the coliseum who had experienced my first country concert. I had “experienced” Reba McEntire.

You may not know me yet but when you get to know me you’ll quickly learn that if there’s something I want to do… I do it. I had been singing and entertaining crowds at church, school, fairs, contests, etc. since the age of three; I had dreamt my entire life of going to Nashville; I was eighteen and I had made up my mind that even though I didn’t know a soul I was going to Nashville. I was going to be a country singer. Boy was I naïve and boy did I have a whole lot to learn!

It has been an incredible journey and I have met some amazing people. I have been fortunate to play some fun shows all over Nashville and surrounding areas, collaborate with songwriters, and touch people with my music the same way I was touched in 1994. I am living the dream, but this musical journey is just getting started. I have never been more fired up and excited to share my music. I have never been more certain of who I am.
