Bio

Jenny Lane

Jenny has a special gift. This gift is her amazing voice that touches all your senses. Jenny sings with a natural ease, authentic and a nonchalance, to give you goose bumps. The extraordinary singer with her natural charm always entertains and ensures an evening full of humor and imagination. “Jenny Lane enchants you with her voice and performance”, said 3voor12, one of the biggest music websites in the Netherlands.

It soon became clear that Jenny would end up on stage. As a hyperactive little girl, Jenny’s living room was filled with her dolls and stuffed animals who were her loyal audience while she acted, danced and sang. Her talent was obvious and her mother signed her up for the “Nederlands Kindertheater” (Dutch Children’s Theater). Later, Jenny attended the school of performing arts at T.H.O.P.S.S in Amsterdam, where she developed and unfolded into what she is today: a true stage performer.

In 2007 she won the Talent Night Rotterdam, after which she traveled to New York to perform at the famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem. In this music hall with its legendary history, she blew the audience away. Meanwhile here in the Netherlands she was also building a career, Jenny wrote many songs for other artists. In 2009 she decided to set her own path as a solo artist performer. Her colorful debut album “Monsters” flew straight to high positions in the Dutch album charts & iTunes. Dutch Time Out magazine NL 20/30/40 placed the petite femme fatale on the cover and described her music as “light soul in a dark fairy tale”. Singer Joss Stone saw Jenny on YouTube and was so impressed that she invited her as a support act on her European tour.

Back in the Netherlands, she played at festivals including such as Eurosonic in Groningen and was support act for Boris & Wicked Jazz Sounds. Her own successful Club Tour called “Monsters On Tour”, was described by news website nu.nl as “a stunning live show”. A whirlwind of performances followed from the Apollo Theater in New York and even to the JakJazz Festival, one of the greatest jazz festivals in Jakarta, Indonesia. In 2010 Jenny also sang on the solo album of Perquisite and was awarded one of the “400 Young Successful Women 2010” by women magazine Viva.

When starting work on her new album, early 2011, Jenny decided to put all her new life experiences in her creatively titled “Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets” album,
which will be released on September 30th . Jenny has chosen a new music direction with this album. “Life’s Like a Chox of Bogglets” is full of uplifting yet melancholic songs, constantly balancing between the dark and the light, an album that dares to take risks.

Contagious raw beats, intense melodies, personal lyrics, playful sounds and Jenny’s amazing soulful voice and performance take you on this journey of pop combined with hiphop beats and electro influenced songs.
