Jenny Moore

Jenny Moore

BandPopSinger/Songwriter

one girl from the prairies who taps her foot constantly and blurts out things that you're not supposed to say + one guy with shaggy hair and a perfectionist love of intricate guitar melodies = true love

Biography

Honest, thoughtful lyrics and a soulful set of vocal chords are what make a Jenny Moore song a Jenny Moore song. The Winnipeg-based singer/songwriter has been frequenting the Manitoba music scene since
her debut in 2000 with the record, “Battlescar.” Jenny managed to set herself apart with intimate lyrics and inability to stand still and play her guitar at the same time.
In 2003, Jenny’s lonely journey as a solo artist ended with Conrad Koslowsky becoming her musical cohort (and husband!). The addition of Conrad made way for a new, more mature sound. The edgy, acoustic
rattling of their guitars creates a collage of catchy melodies without settling on the typical, overproduced patterns of popular music. This duo has come into their own in terms of crafting a set of tunes that
emote and inspire us not to ignore our own brokenness but to have faith in the margins. Jenny’s fierce presence always makes way for these powerful
tunes exploring love, loss, and desire. Jenny Moore is about the development of poignant and important songs, full of originality and soul.

Lyrics

Bored as Hell

Written By: Jenny Moore

It's monday morning
The local town heroes are playing on the radio, we all sing along
There's a review in Uptown saying
That was a good show but I am bored as hell and I hate this place
I eavesdrop on people's conversations
As I walk to your apartment
Where you tell me you're moving again
The traffic's bad cuz there's a "party" downtown, where we all sit on the curb
And wait for school to start or end

Some of us have escaped across the border to America,
I talked to her last week
Her closet is full of American costumes
But she stil likes stickers
She is haunted by the prairies

They roll, they roll
They run faster than we all can together
They run faster than we all can together

The enormous sky
Takes us apart and keeps some for herself
We live under such an enormous sky
It takes us apart and keeps some for herself

We sit and drink and smoke these brown cigarettes
And talk about the ocean and the Hallsteads
Salted streets and secrets push us to some other place and time
Place and time zone

It's tuesday morning
The local town heroes are playing on the radio
Bored as hell and we love this place

Crevice

Written By: Jenny Moore

I have found a crevice in my side
I think your hand fits perfectly inside
Words that have failed me,
Won't fail to fail me once more
For I have come to say, I'm gone

There's an ache in my fingers
When I play these three chords
They ache like my grandma's knee does
When there's a storm coming on

But this storm is the kind that breathes
When you lay on the pavement
Drink the rain through your skin
And wait for it to melt you down

I haven't figured out how
How love can tear me down
And I keep coming back for more
Sometimes when I see you these days
I want to scream out loud
I want to scream out loud
And so sometimes I do

Cuz this storm is the kind that breathes
When you lay on the pavement
I'll drink the rain through my skin
Wait for it to melt me down
And this fire is the kind that sings
The music that could wear us down
And i watch it burn through my skin
I'd like to say it again:

You can't scare me more
More than I already am

The Lion Man

Written By: Jenny Moore

You are brave and you are kind
Maybe no one's told you in awhile but
That's how i see you
You have a heart like a lion
Lonely and strong, fighting for the forest
All by yourself, alone

Your hair smells just like black tea and cashews in the afternoon
But I don't mind, at all
Your clothes smell just like Switzerland's air when the wind gets so crazy strong
But I don't mind, at all
It's been so nice just to be here
Waiting for you to get home

I have a heart like a hurricane
Tearing through the ground my house is on
Picking up the things from other people's yards
This thing we're in
It's helped me percieve the world
The way you touch the back of my ear
Reminds me of your underlying love
For anything alive

Your hair smells just like black tea and cashews in the afternoon
But I don't mind, at all
Your clothes smell just like Switzerland's air when the wind gets so crazy strong
But I don't mind, at all

Your hands feel like love to me
Your skin feels like love to me

Your clothes are piled outside the bathroom door on a Sunday morning, early spring
YOu're tending to your plants again
My clothes are piled outside the bedroom door where I wait beside the imprint of your shape
Pretending I'm not awake
It's been so nice just to be here
Waiting for you to get home
