"City Beat: Spill It: Singer/songwriter explosion!: Spill It: Music"

· Saturday at Rohs Street Cafe in Clifton Heights, Greg Mahan, Brian Ewing, Chris Haubner & Jim Pross, Kelly Evans and Jenny Ward play the benefit concert "A Moveable Feast II: The Gathering of Songwriters." The event began in Denver as a way to present singer/songwriters in a more "music-friendly" environment. With Rohs Street being one of the better "listening rooms" in Cincinnati, Satire Records' Jack Redell helped put the Cincy lineup there and steered the proceeds to Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity and Free Trade Coffee. Music starts at 8 p.m. (onlyamoveablefeast.com) - City Beat

Bio

Born and raised in the always-fresh soundscape of Nashville, Tennessee, Jenny Ward nurtured her skills and talents of songwriting, singing, and guitar playing. While still tethered to Nashville, Jenny eventually moved to sleepy Cincinnati where she gained a cult following of squirrels. After emptying her pockets of peanuts and filling her head with songs, she picked up her dusty guitar and put down to paper all the thoughts her voice would soon deftly craft.
Lead guitar Dan Berger hails from small-town Ohio. Through countless hours of quality coffee shop shows during his college years to joining up with Jenny in 2005, Dan has already provided a strong foundation for this newly formed bands musical creativity to build upon.
Born in Toledo, Ohio and raised in Cincinnati, Rob Cook has an irreverent background in musical taste and drumming. After much tuning, mending, polishing, and complaining, Rob brought his beleaguered drum kit Ol Whiskey to the collective.
Bassist Mr. Mike Voegele added the final bolt in establishing the bands identity replacing the previous bass player, who by anyones account could very well have been an apparition or figment of Jennys whimsical imagination.
In Jenny's words:
Most people comment that we have a different sound--somewhere between rock and folk and I think this combination appeals to people. I attribute this to Dan (lead guitarist) and Rob's (drummer) propensity for hard rock coupled with Mike (bass) and my (songwriter, vocals and guitar) love of folk/americana. The two actually mix pretty well, and I'm always surprised at the outcome of our various musical stylings.
