Bio

In a time when singer/songwriters are filling coffee houses and pop radio simultaneously, Jeremy Borer is a refreshing and captivating voice that is sure to stand out among the rest. The combination of Jeremy’s confident voice and mature sense of songwriting define him as an artist. His artistry, coupled with the time he spends learning how to construct and record a sound-scape to embody his music, makes SPLIT AT THE SEAMS the debut CD that succinctly captures the essence of Jeremy Borer. This 7 song CD covers everything from the hook-driven single with “Different World”, to the ballad that saturates listeners with an epic crescendo of strings, piano, and vocals in “Breathe Life”. While following in the footsteps of past NYC singer/songwriters, Jeremy takes unique turns where most have not. He plays local and regional clubs & cafes by night, yet he spends his days learning the in’s & out’s of the industry working at Wind-up Records (the largest independent Record Label) and spending countless hours in the studio in front of the mixing board as a freelance engineer.

SPLIT AT THE SEAMS is produced & engineered by Jeremy, and the CD was mixed by Godfrey Diamond (Aerosmith, Lou Reed), a longtime NYC producer/engineer. Jeremy is accompanied by 3 exceptional musicians that elaborate the melodies of his songs and thicken the textures with lush piano (Dave Wyrtzen) and string arrangements. The rhythm section (Evan Parness - Drums/Percussion, Ben Loy - Bass) tastefully support the music with their catchy bass lines and driving rhythms, while not drawing too much attention from the poetry and harmony that define Jeremy’s style. SPLIT AT THE SEAMS offers an organic texture that is a result of the songs (likened to Coldplay & Dave Matthews), instrumentation, vocals (influenced by Jeff Buckley & Toad the Wet Sprocket), and the experienced ears of mixer Godfrey Diamond.

BACKGROUND
Jeremy Borer grew up constantly performing onstage throughout his childhood in Fair Lawn, NJ, a suburb of New York City. He began his solo career while studying music at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. While there, he studied guitar and voice while building a loyal following of fans before heading to NYU to get a Masters Degree in Music & Production. He quickly got his feet wet in the New York City scene, playing at open mics and acoustic cafes. Two years in the city and one CD later, you can catch Jeremy Borer live throughout the Northeast, either performing solo, as a duet with a pianist, or in full force with his 3 piece band of talented musicians.
