"Jeremy Kent to Perform at 23rd Annual Nature Fest"

"There's nothing like a crowd out enjoying two of nature's finest things, the outdoors and music. They're two of God's gifts that really bring out the very best in people," says singer/songwriter Jeremy Kent about headlining the Pine Tree Stage on September 8th at Bowie Nature Park for the 23rd Annual Fairview Nature Fest.

A native of Southern Arizona, Jeremy is no stranger to Country Music. His mom's family is from "up a holler" in Pike County, Kentucky, where Jeremy spent many youthful summers. "My family has played bluegrass gospel records every Sunday morning of my life," remembers Jeremy. Another family memory that links Jeremy to his Kentucky roots is his Mommaw and Poppaw's annual rendition of "Great High Mountain" every Christmas Eve. "I don't mind singing solo," admits Jeremy, "but if you want music behind me, I'm thankful for the amazingly talented friends who make me sound so much better!"

When asked if he plays any instruments, Jeremy confesses, "I pick at the guitar, but I'm no lead player yet. I DO play my foot real good though." As a child, Jeremy and his cousin wrote songs and performed country "concerts" for anyone who would listen. Family sing-a-longs with his aunt accompanying on the autoharp were a staple at family gatherings. "By the age of six, I was planning my stage show, designing my tour bus and turning the family bathroom into a recording studio," Jeremy laughs. "My Dad was also an awesome guitar player, so I guess I earned my love of music from all sides," Jeremy adds with a serious note.

In 2004, Jeremy got an apartment in Nashville and in 2007, he made the move permanent, because as he puts it, "I just couldn't shake the country music calling, no matter how hard I tried, it was in my blood and my soul."

Among his influences, Jeremy sites Don Williams, Dolly Parton, Ralph Stanley, Tim McGraw and Wynonna. As he puts it, "Each of those legends speaks for themselves." Thanks to a freelance gig as a researcher for a television special in 2006, Jeremy got the chance to meet one of those legends. He sat down with Dolly Parton for two hours and got to ask her all about the highlights of her life, both personal and professional. "When you meet an icon, you're bound to have them on a pedestal. When you find them to be as human as you, you're often somewhat disappointed. Dolly met or exceeded every expectation I ever had. She's truly one of the most genuine, spiritual, brilliant and talented human beings I've ever met. It was truly a life-altering experience for me." Jeremy recalls.

Of his upcoming gig at Fairview Nature Fest's Pine Tree Stage, Jeremy beams, "Connecting with fans is the best thing about performing, and there's nothing more rewarding than using these vocal chords to support their communities! I'm honored to pitch in and help any chance I get."

"650 WSM AM (Radio) Review"

"When I listen to the songs Jeremy Kent performs, I immediately think "storyteller." He tells a story from start to finish in his songs that few can... THE RANGE OF EMOTIONS HE TAKES THE LISTENER ON IS NOTHING SHORT OF MAGICAL. Say what you will about the state of country music today, but Jeremy Kent is not only a throwback in sound and delivery, HE IS ATHROWBACK TO EVERYTHING THAT IS GOOD ABOUT THE GENRE. I have no doubts his passion will take him as far as he wants to go."

BIO:
Honest, soulful, and straight from the heart – Jeremy Kent brings every shade of emotion to life in his music. With rich signature tones and a masculine sensitivity, his songs paint vivid scenes of his life experience in a contemporary country style that blends his cowboy roots and hillbilly heritage.

Born in Arizona and brought up between the wild deserts of the west and the rich cultural tapestry of Bluegrass Appalachia, Jeremy grew up appreciating his father’s outlaw poets as well as his mother’s Kentucky gospel harmonies. Music became the emotional outlet that helped Jeremy through the tragic loss of his father and sister, along with a number of other childhood challenges.

Jeremy Kent’s performing and songwriting led him first to Los Angeles and now Nashville. His music has quickly gained a strong following in the country community. His original music was showcased as part of the CMT Music Awards Preshow selection two years running – in 2008 and 2009! (Jeremy is the only unsigned artist to be included!) Two of Jeremy’s original tunes were featured in the GAC TV Special “Trace Adkins: X Days.” Jeremy was featured as a “Listen Up!” artist by Country Weekly Magazine. Jeremy won KZLA’s “Hometown Hero” honor in Los Angeles with his original song, So Far Away, receiving airplay along with a live interview on what was then, America’s most listened-to country station. Jeremy made the final cut in the national Country Thunder “Young Guns” online contest and he also enjoys regular airplay on his hometown radio station, KXCI-FM, in Tucson, Arizona.

Jeremy Kent knows how to connect! He released his first album, “Straight From The Heart,” in early 2009 and he’s played venues across the country, emerging a crowd favorite from coast to coast. His diverse fan base is growing fast, proving the power of music that speaks to the heart and comes from the soul. There’s no question – Jeremy will remind you of everything you love about country music at its core!
